If we were to bring in a striker that had a total of 13 goals in 45 games last season from a L2 club would you be impressed ?
At best a bench warmer but maybe even another bring in and loan out.. what would be the point..

I think age plays a factor. 13 in 45 for a 21 year old is much more encouraging than that record for a 31 year old. He's got room to improve and develop.

I've had a read on Walsall's forum, and the general consensus is that their fans would be happy for him to go back there. It seems he goes through purple patches with his scoring, and is good at getting on the end of low crosses into the box. He sounds reasonably similar to Cole, albeit hopefully with a better workrate.

Given he's one of at least 2, if not 3 attackers we're hoping to sign, I don't think it'd be a bad move on the face of it.

It's the pond we're fishing in sadly. You've mentioned the lad from Luton, and about Styles going there, but if Luton don't want Styles, and they don't want to let Taylor go, it becomes a bit of a fantasy.

 

I think it's the only reason we've not signed Keillor-Dunn.

I don’t know but assuming it’s a straight swap deal plus cash so would say permanent

 

It’s easy for us to make an assessment based on previous and we are all guilty of doing that(me included).
I have to be honest and say never heard of him and know nothing about him but my counter to your argument would be Cole 11 in 27 at Motherwell but he did OK for us, Woodrow 2 in 15 season before us, Dike? Morris? Bradshaw & Kieffer are the only ones in a long time that I can recall coming in with a reasonable wiki pedigree.
I’ve deliberately left the Belgian boys out but I don’t think we have actually done too bad historically.

 

Much rather have someone who scored 15 in all comps last season in L2 to play or bring on over someone like Marsh who is older and doesn't have 15 senior goals in his entire career

He wants to leave permanently. Horses mouth. Didn’t realise we were in for him but I know he’s thinks he’s capable. Confident lad.

Loan interest has been registered but not sure if anyone has come in permanently. I know Fleetwood want(ed) him on loan but that’s very recent interest. West Brom seemed reluctant to let him go out on loan so not sure if there’s someone lined up to sign him. I know Cambridge have also enquired about him this pre season as well.

Edit* it wasn’t Fleetwood and Cambridge. It was Swindon and someone else. Getting mixed up with another striker.

Sounds like his loan at Donny got cut short in January due to a fall out maybe? McCann didn’t seem to like his attitude.

 

Surely must be cash coming our way too. I know we all don’t like Styles using us as a shop window, but a full international who has just played at the euros finals must be worth more than a youngster just making a name for himself.
