Every player we have signed so far has stated they were first contacted by the club in May.That would suggest we got our targets.As for the strikers how do we know we wont get our targets? Because they aren't here at this precise moment doesn't mean we've missed out it means other factors are involved and we wont sign anyone just to fill the gaps.
The only targets we've missed are the players some fans wanted.Maybe they don't align with who the club wants.

 

Exactly. We seem to have "missed" Mbappe, because Mladen didn't move as quickly as Real Madrid.

 

I’m sure it’s a huge conspiracy and actually we have written a clause into their contracts which makes them say that even when we only panic bought them at the last minute…(/sarcasm)

 

Whether they are no 1 targets or not I don’t know and that doesn’t confirm or deny either way.
What it does show though is we were in talks early on and how long some of these things can take and why sometimes patience is key.
Wether we get our key signings in pre season or by end of window won’t determine if we have a good season or not either that will come down to the quality and the ability of the coaches.

I think we also need to acknowledge that recruitment has changed from last season.

We now have a Director of Football/Sporting Director who is dedicated to recruitment as opposed to previously when it was part of the CEO activities. The new DoF/SD doesn't fill me with confidence but I'm willing to give them the whole window before critiquing though the current situation is concerning.

 

I heard that all the deals are done but they’re hanging on a bit longer before they announce them because they like to sit and watch the bbs spiral out of control.

I must have missed that interview where Clarke said we have missed targets. Only thing I have heard him refer to is things have moved a bit more slowly that the ideal scenario, or along those lines.

It could also suggest he is part of a chain relying on WB sorting other personnel out first that is awaiting for the first one to drop.
It could also suggest he is part of a chain waiting for us to free a space up.
It could also suggest like others have said it’s part of the Styles deal and we have everything agreed with him but can’t finalise.
It could also suggest there is a backlog in awaiting an independent medical report.

There are literally hundreds of reasons why it has taken 3 weeks.
