    Only booked my train to Lincoln 2hrs ago , just received an email to say my return journey has been cancelled. As I drive for a living I didn't fancy the drive plus i fancied a beer or two :(

    I remember going to Lincoln a few years ago and my booked train was cancelled (last one of the night?). They put a bus on, but from memory it was due back in Sheffield at about 4am - and work was next day at 9am.

    In the end, they put me and these two lads in a taxi. Some other reds were waiting in the station for the bus though.

    In that case you can get back via "any reasonable route". Take a Nottingham train to Newark then pick up a London train from there. You probably won't get a seat on the London leg but it's only just over an hour.
