Don't think he's been particularly bad at it overall. The second half today was different, especially last 30 minutes. His kicking was atrocious, but I think it was heavily down to nerves and pressure myself, because last 2 games other than odd kick, he's been fine. His distribution seems pretty decent for a goalkeeper at league one level so far
Realistically he wouldn't be at Barnsley if he didn't have some deficiencies in his game. Just his kicking does look extremely deficient, and was the direct reason for us constantly coming back under pressure in the final half hour (as well our midfield being collectively unable to control a football).
Apart from the first 20 minutes where I thought we looked ok.. we struggled all over the field after that. I wouldn't say 'thee' reason but one of.(Keeper kicking) The ball would never stick with our forwards. Our mid-field to a man passing was poor and kept giving possession away And all our back three also struggled and got caught in possession two often.. But we won.. and I'd take all the above every away game if we win..
Surprised his kicking was prioritised over the fact ,he kept us in the game ,and his work between the sticks won us the game overall.
Don't get me wrong, he was fantastic. But kicking is such a large part of a keeper's game these days that it can't just be ignored.
100% spot on , however his debut in the League as a goalie as got to be the best since Luke Steel at Anfield in the cup. Not forgetting his heroics in the penalty shoot out.
