What does that even mean. If he's a sweetener, surely that something that's supposed to be a positive to us. Sounds like West Brom just want rid and we're the mugs taking him on, hope we're not dropping the fee for Styles based on this.
Manager name checked him 2 days ago in a press conference saying they saw good potential in him but not quite ready for first team and need to go out on loan to continue his development.
Just seen this in my feed from a West Brom site. https://www.westbromnews.co.uk/2024...in-player-plus-cash-bid-for-2m-callum-styles/ Have to say about the board, they are refusing to roll over and give in on their valuation of Styles. The contract says £2m to release so £2m it is.
I can’t imagine their valuation is still £2m. That’s a crazy number. If we don’t move him on, his value will go down again in Jan. Seems crazy letting him run his contract down. Feels unlikely he will play much of a part for us if he stays. Paying his wages for the season, not playing him and not getting a fee for him, doesn’t feel like good business.
True. However, we really did hold all the cards with Kitching. He was on a long term contract, we weren't actively trying to offload him, and he'd come off the back of a superb season. Not one of these applies to Styles.
Yeah it is a difficult one. The thing is we do know what we are wanting for him? The £2m seems unrealistic but equally we don’t want to gave him away, plus we need to keep building up reputation for being tough negotiators
We want 1.2 million for styles according to this ITK guy and their current offer is 500 plus Faal which we have rejected
It’s getting to the point where we need action and not words when it comes to bringing in forward players because at the end of the day talk is cheap and nothing is changing with less than two weeks of the window to go.
Agreed but I don’t believe this Faal guy was even on our radar. We don’t need another forward to loan out. We need a striker or two to go straight into the first team
I dunno. If we can get a chunk of cash up front that'll allow us to sign Keillor-Dunn for example, it's got to be worth considering. Letting his contract run down is lose-lose for everyone involved - Styles, BFC, Faal, West Brom. Would seem very short-sighted.
