Shouldn't play again after that. Violent conduct from a first teamer against a kid in a Mikey mouse cup match. Unforgivable. Massive fine from the Club and told to find another.
Most of the youngsters have never started a professional game. They are up against an academy that vacuums up the very best young players in the world. Some of the more senior players have been disappointing. But the kids gave it a good go. And we were outstanding in the first half. Not entirely surprised that kids couldn't keep up the pace. It's a great run out for them though.
Does anyone know what O’Keeffe actually did? They don’t seem to have caught it on camera from what I’ve seen. Pretty pathetic from a senior pro if he’s risen to bait from a bloody kid. Anyone in the know?
Pathetic to be honest, but that is what this compo has become anyway. It disappoints me that each time we play the kids, in the Groups. And if or when we do qualify for the knockout rounds. It's just play the kids yet again, and ignore the chance of doing well in this compo after all.
He lost his head after the 2nd or 3rd. Fingers pointing as we were kicking off. He then went full blooded into a challenge which I personally thought was OTT. Whatever went off involved the same player I think.... Pulled by the 4th official as it was in front of him. Straight red. Although I can't say what he actually did, but if steam was still coming out of his ears as it was, he could have done anything....
Some very over the top comments on here. A team made up mainly of kids got beaten by an academy team from one of the country's top clubs. Not surprised at times they were miles better than us. I couldn't care less about the result
What annoys me most about tonight. Isn't how bad some of our players are it's that the club had the audacity charge people to watch a kids training match
Positives are a good first half and we learnt a lot 2nd half negatives, the thing we learnt was how many players arent good enough yet rather than how many are.
If we'd won it wouldn't mean they are good enough just as losing doesn't mean they aren't (or won't be). It's a game where we picked an XI that have probably on the whole never played together and even then, half the team was changed eventually throughout the match
