Lehman was great but so many more for longer. Moxon, metcalfe, bairstow x 2, goughie, hoggard, geoffrey, trueman, close.
His average was something else and at a time when he was facing the best in the world because they weren't doing franchise Cricket.
Not sure what that table is Hooky It came up for me too when I googled most first class runs for Yorkshire. Geoff Boycott scored over 48000 first class runs for a start.
You have a valid point. As he was one of the most exciting we've had. Whilst playing for yorkshire rather than the best player ever to have played for Yorkshire. Tis why I mentioned one of, and reputedly the greatest batsmen to have played the game was Tendulkar, although at the very early part of his career. I was surprised tbf looking at those figures how little Boycott played for Yorkshire in county cricket. But apart from the Packer debacle. He was playing for England as were many of the others mentioned.
I know mate its thrown me too. It makes out he only played 40+ games in county cricket. Or I've totally misread it. I'm pretty sure that ECB contracts didn't prevent em for playing for counties when available. Your figures make a lot more sense. Except for the fact how I read that table it has him played 108 tests and 609 1st class. Over 24yrs that would mean an average of 25 per year. Unless it means innings which would make more sense. But then tests would read nay on double if it meant innings. I'm confused.com lol.
Never mind all this Statto stuff. YJB is turning out for the team at Scarborough in a must win 4 dayer. I bet half is lost to rain!
Me and the better half have booked tickets for Friday to hopefully watch the cricket in Scarborough. The forecast is a bit ropey but hey ho we'll be fine.
You can pay on the gate at the main entrance - can get busy though approaching start time. If you have a pre booked ticket or member card you can get in the other two smaller entrances (Trafalgar and the one at Peasholme end) Don't forget to call in at Dahlia bakery on North Marine Road for a decent coffee, pork pie or some cake - nice start to proceedings guaranteed (if the weather is kind to us!).
Conservatory on Newborough is where I go. It opens for breakfast so if you get there much after 3 pm you'll be lucky to catch them still serving food. Huge homemade desserts including ones you can take away. Homemade mains like lasagne, chilli con carne and cottage pie for around 8 quid. Bargain.
