What a mess of a club, spent 1.2 billion and have a staggering 197 years worth of contracts in place with the total squad.
The Americans only had to come in and keep the thing rolling, but they totally ripped it apart and have made a complete mess.

Non football people having a go at it eh, deserve relegation

And we were playing them most years when I was younger.

I remember seeing us win 2-1 at Stamford Bridge in 1981. We won there 3-0 in the following year, if I remember rightly. A little later in the 80s we beat them 4-0 at Oakwell in the FA Cup.

Yeah I remember that, we played Chelski in the early and late 80s (and also Man City as well).
Just look at how they have changed as clubs since then!.

Yeah they had 4 seasons in the second tier in the early and late 80s.

I'm sure in 81/82 and 82/83 we matched them. There were times when they were bringing in less than 10,000.
Year they went up was obviously different.
Have to say, they had a cracking away support back then.

We beat them 3-0 at Stamford Bridge in 1983 in front of a crowd of 7223. An own goal plus Derrick Parker and Tony Cunningham.

    Was you there Churton?
I was at the 2-1 the year before. Blimey! That was lively, to say the least.

No I wasn't at that one Wuz. I went away a lot in those days but never got to Chelsea. I bet it was a bit hairy.
Wouldn't mind a Tony Cunningham clone signing for us this week.

    It’s ridiculous.

They were 3rd in the league, not far behind City & Liverpool & reigning champions league holders when all this began.

It’s not like they even needed a rebuild.

Makes interesting reading as to who you can include in a squad. Teams allowed 17 overseas players out of 25 allowed. and U21's can be added to that list.
Man city. 89 players on books including scholars. Last years figures.

Haven’t we got one of their keepers not listed there ?
Also we could take a couple of strikers

Why? The players have a choice to sign or not. They’re not forced to.

I have zero sympathy with the players who’ve signed in the last 2 years. They shouldn’t complain if they’re not playing either because of they knew the situation when they signed. They chose money and long contracts over their careers.
