A day of waiting for the Club to announce the signing of a striker looks to be ending in disappointment, again, as of 8-50 pm.
It is becoming more and more difficult to feel positive about how our Club is currently being run.
It seems that, for whatever the reason, we can't get new bodies into the Club. Is this that we can't/won't meet the players contract demands. Or that players don't want to play for us. Because of the, at times, toxic atmosphere at Oakwell ?
The Clubs silence on social media is frustrating and puzzling. Fans are limited to snippets in The Chronicle and Yorkshire post. From journalists who are muzzled and just churn out the Clubs negative line.
Today's meet the players event from what I have read was a pr disaster long queues, extortionate prices, £3-50 for a tray of chips etc.
I have been a Barnsley fan all my life. And would consider myself normally a "happy clapper" But thus far, and I know it is early days, season wise I have never been as disappointed in the leadership of my Club.
Barnsley your fans deserve better in terms of communication and honesty.

    Agreed.

Even though I’ve gotta a feeling someone will be holding a red and white Barnsley scarf up tomorrow, it’s been slow.

It's a ******* shambles off the field but you will have certain posters on here defending the club, excusing them at every opportunity. It's telling for me that Whitey and the other lad departed at the same time and issued pretty much identical statements. Things must have got real bad for those guys to leave.

Perhaps the owners need reminding that we are supposed to be a "professional" football club in the third tier of English football. Quite frankly some of what's happening off the field is non league standard with no effort, commitment or desire to improve at anything.

It's weird because similar posts to this are being said on countless other forums of other football clubs mate. It has been a shambles up front recruitment wise, no denying that. But I'm still gunna hold judgement until end of the window. The other areas I've been pleased with. I don't like the fact the window goes into the start of the season, but I'd still rather wait and get our high priority targets than get them 2/3 weeks earlier who aren't as high on the list. And if it's true, it's Clarke who didn't want Styles exchange with Faal + money, so the board might be taking him into consideration more, I dunno. But I'll be fuming if window shuts and we haven't got any adequate forwards at our club.

Styles to West Brom is still on. It’s about if either club moves an inch closer to the other. I’d be more concerned about Styles still being in League 1 this season but not at us. He doesn’t wanna be here anymore but wouldn’t surprise me if he ended up at a promotion rival.

I don't believe it's anything to do with a so called toxic atmosphere it's purely down to money with the players,an ex red legend told me this.As for the running of the club tinpot is a compliment not one thing has improved since the Crynes were in charge,at least then you could call to Redferns bar for a pint now you've to stand in freezing temperatures and pay top whack for a plastic glass of beer, plus the signing of players is a joke we never attempt to sign anyone of note we are just waiting for some premier league loan or cast off then they try to make out it's always been our number 1 target

Stevie Wonder could have told us 12 months ago that Cole, Williams, Cadden and Kane would be leaving this summer at the latest. We've had ages to find replacements and we have relied on loans and freebies apart from "undisclosed" for some inexperienced lad we hope will turn out to be good one day. The recruitment of strikers has been the most poor of the lot.

The feeling coming out of the club is that certain people aren’t on the same page, hence the amount of time it’s taken for deals to be even offered never mind signed.

Would this be at all down to playing style and tactics differing ?

Is it non footballing board members that are still trying to play football manager or what?

Or is it the Head Coach that is having a major input, rightfully so if that is the case.

I think from afar, the club do seem to be in line with how we wanna play. Clarke has mentioned the need for wingers to allow a change in formation but the setup to start games with hasn’t changed since the day Duff started.

I can slag this club off all day with the way I’m feeling at the moment but one thing we do seem to get right is looking for managers that suit they way we want to play to follow consistency every season rather than changing systems every new manager like we used to.

Sormaz has more ideas than Khalid did when he was at the club in terms of who he wants to bring in and Clarke is wanting to have an input, as expected. Collins last season was happy to go with the flow of the club as did Poya and Schopp when they were both here. Clarke is wanting a say, just like Duff did when he was here.

We’ll bring players in. We have people involved who want to do well for the club, no matter what people say to suit their own agendas. Just we lack experience in certain departments to ensure we compete with clubs that have been planning since Easter.

Take it we're not bringing players in that will see us challenging the top 6 in terms of quality and experience, young and cheap/ loans

Good to hear he isn't a yes man then. I hope they back Clarke, he is the football manager at the end of the day with years of experience in the game.
