I was never a huge fan of Cameron. He's a pretty good League 1 player, very good League 2 player, below average Championship player. I always wanted us to have good Championship players because that's where we've played most of my life. Cameron wasn't, so he wasn't ever a favourite. But we're playing in League 1, and there's a very good chance he's going to get between our midfield and defence and crack one (maybe two) in the top corner; because at this level, if a manager doesn't know what he's about and doesn't instruct a player to track him, he's well capable of doing that. If you put a marker on him, or he's up against a Championship midfield, he can't quite cut it, but if you have, for example, Jon Russell strolling about, Cameron McGeehan will ruin you. Will Hondermarck is just rubbish. So... two goals for Hondermarck and McGeehan sent off if my past predictions are anything to go by.
I met Cameron in the sauna at my local gym when he was playing for us, lovely lad very chatty. He came back from a bad injury and I think some confidence demons always liked him at League one level, as Jay said, not quite championship level, no doubt will score against us!
Mcgeehan a poor man's Adam Phillips but great head of hair, Hondermark the more he sat on the bench the better he got type of player.
Don't think he got a fair crack in the Championship to be honest. I thought Mcgeehan and Mowatt would have been a better option than Williams and Gardner.
And to turn it round a bit ... my best mate in the village, his son Jack Baldwin, has just signed for the cobblers. Hope he has a mare if he plays.
One of my older school pals lad plays for them too; Tyler Magloire. Think he's on the fringes now there . Ex Blackburn
A good interview with McGeehan in the Chronicle today. Very complimentary about his time at Oakwell. https://www.barnsleychronicle.com/article/29285/mcgeehan-relishing-return-to-oakwell-with-new-club
Quite ironic just one player still around at the club when he was here. Marshy. We really need to do better with keeping hold of players ,to keep them at the club.
Only if they are good enough, we seem to have collected players that had little hope of breaking into or being effective in the 1st team and just bloating the squad.
Look at Chaplin players that were agreed on here were average or below that as kicked on,just one example.
Chaplin was 1st team and had scored goals, I was referencing the Oli Shaw, Andy Dallas, obi Oulare and Iseka gang
100% spot on . They were unnecessary signings we had no option when they were given 2 and 3 yr contracts by someone !
Shaw was a very weird signing but Dallas was definitely worth a punt as his record was not to be sniffed at. I'm not going to mention the Belgians.
