Cos we improved 10 fold with the Mads and Kitching money. Not a dig at you mate, just an observation that we didn't exactly push on.
Absolutely, not got a link but I read what Michael Duff wrote about Huddersfield signings before the end of this window. Basically he said that one transfer movement often triggers a flurry of further moves.
Yeah does depend on the business they do. I don't want Phillips to go for example as he proved enough times last year how valuable he is to us, but if we were to sell him for a fee around what we got for Mads or Kitch and added a striker and DKD permanently that wouldn't be too bad, and could make us better overall than we are now. If we were to lose Connell though, that would be a much bigger loss in my opinion and much harder to replace.
By making him captain they have essentially added another million on to him if anyone wanted to test our resolve.
I am not so sure. I may well end up looking daft here but I have a funny feeling we will get Taylor. That is not coming from any sort of ITK standpoint or anything like that, I just have a feeling we get that done, even if only on loan. DKD I am not so sure on, think that will go to the wire and be dependent on outgoings I think. But I do have a feeling we get Taylor. Lincoln seem to have moved to other targets now with the lad from Fowls. Hudds signed a new striker last week or the week before on loan, and still have Healey, Radulovic and Koroma who they play up top. So they seem fairly well stocked up top.
Hope you’re right about Taylor but if the player himself has a choice between us and Hudds we all suspect where he’ll go.
All depends on game time and what Luton want. If Luton want to sell, he will go to whichever side offers the most money to Luton and also the biggest wages to the player. It is as simple as that, and so if that is the case it will be as you suspect and Hudds would be strong favourites. If Luton do not want to sell and only want to loan him out, wages do not really come into play, unless he is on a big wedge at Luton (which I highly doubt). So it then comes down to where he will play more etc. and we edge it there in my opinion as he would instantly come here and be number one choice. Not sure he does at Hudds as they have plenty of other options, some of which they spent decent fees on while in the Championship
I'm the other way round - think Phillips is superb (as is Luca) but I do think Phillips is a much better player in a team that is attacking and playing confident winning football. When we are poor, as we have been at home since the Derby game, he does look a little lost and introverted. I don't buy into this DKD hype but that is based how little I know of him and his appearance agaist us earlier this month. If he does join, I'll get behind him and hope he flourishes.
Styles nearing the exit (again) according to this, though I can't read the full article, so unsure whether it's new information or a week behind: https://www.expressandstar.com/spor...osing-in-on-move-for-barnsleys-callum-styles/
Not suggesting someone will, but I think it would be that kind of fee the board would expect given his goal involvements over his time here, plus the length of his deal.
The Hungary international, who was involved in his nation's European Championship campaign, could see a move to The Hawthorns finalised on Friday, it is understood. Styles, 24, has been a target of Carlos Corberan and head of football operations Ian Pearce this summer as a suitable versatile option who is not only capable of operating in midfield but also on the left flank, where the head coach wants more depth. He has been with Barnsley since 2018 and made more than 150 appearances for the Oakwell club. Styles, born in Bury but with a Hungarian passport, spent parts of the last couple of seasons on loan in the Championship with Millwall and Sunderland. He is likely to be Albion's penultimate recruit of the summer window as the club focus their targets on a centre-forward to cover for Brandon Thomas-Asante, who left for Coventry last month
