It may have been the highest attendance for several years? I think Pompey beat it against Bradford the following season. No matter what; it was a great time following the Reds
It was I had followed us part time for 4 years ,occasionally getting the train to watch a first division team aaagh . That's when I became 100% watching us home n away when we looked decent.
I was in the other corner between the Ponty and Brewery stands. Missed the KO due to queues to get in and Brewery stand was packed so settled for behind corner flag. Even without a roof the Atmosphere was amazing
Yes my usual spot was the Brewery ,but settled for the corner between Ponty and West stand where you could stand at that time. Chuffing crushed as a weedy 17 year old.
North Terrace for me and mate. It was rammed! I'm sure there were more than 21,000 there that night. Next day, i bought every single newspaper lol
Didn't Kendra tyke post this on here, about 2 years ago lol. I remember loads of us talking positively about it then, as well.
Absolutely brilliant that, I had forgotten about the players in the directors box ,throwing their shirts out to the fans. And most importantly, I had forgotten we beat the league Champions to win promotion. But this seems like a distant memory. God I'm getting old .
Was the club fined for those terrible scenes of the pitch invasion by hooligans. Anyone on here admitting to invading the pitch that day?
I like the comment ‘I’ll just let the pictures tell the tale’. What pictures - somebody put 50p in the electric meter please. Great times.
Yeah. That’s me on a friends shoulders All I can say about my dress sense was that it was still the 70s
