I'm not convinced ticket prices make that much difference if I'm honest. If people want to go they will go. I don't believe we're going to find a significant number of additional fans by charging less.

I'd agree to a small extent. But for a family it makes a very big difference. Hence season tickets offer good value in comparison.
Where I agree is How many of us are aghast at wendy or leeds prices but still go.

What I would do if I were the club is advertise more widely eg local press and other social media platforms (unless I'm blind and missed em all) stating clearly the special offers and the pay on day prices.
TBH. I only knew about the offer for today was on this thread.

When it comes to one-off offers, I would agree.
But if it is plastered all over town and social media IN THE BUILD UP TO A NEW SEASON that matchday tickets at Oakwell for the coming season will be £xx every game, every category, no it's or buts, then it gives fairweather fans a clear message that there is a consistent option for something to enjoy on a Saturday afternoon*

    * Or night. Or Friday night. Or Tuesday night. Or Sunday lunch. Or TBC

But to be fair kids are cheap, it's only the adults that are expensive, and I agree that full price tickets are probably a bit overpriced.

The simple fact us, as with the OP, he's not going because his lad doesn't want to go, not because it's too expensive.

I think they push STs down folks necks too much, yes it's the bread and butter and it gets funds in pre transfer activity but there's also a pay on the day market. I had a ST for 25 years, not had one for 16 years now - don't think I'll ever get one again, a family of four, missus hates football, one kid loves it, daughters not bothered. I couldn't imagine ruining 20 weekends of the year buggering off to football so the family can't do anything on that Saturday, so we go to maybe 10 home games a year.

Not every family is football crazy.

Agree about the lack of info from the club, it should be clear so a decision can be made.

Value for money, £17 at the pictures or £33 at Oakwell.

But if your lad had said I want to go to the game rather than Cineworld, would you have gone to Oakwell?

You can compare all sorts of entertainment. Just had a quick glance at going to the theatre in Leeds and tickets are over £40/person, most nearer £50.

Plenty genuinely cannot afford the prices. Some will be able to but won't go because they have morals not to be ripped off. Some will say they cannot afford but if we were playing Man United in the PL today like Brighton are and it was 30 quid a ticket they would have found the money.

It's always been the same and not one category fits all.

No, missus just asked the same - why aren't you going to the match? Cheaper to go to the pictures.

You’re probably going to theatre twice a year not every other weekend though

Fair enough, as long as you're spending quality time with family it's all good.

Whatever you do today have a great day....

But if you're going to go every other weekend you're going to buy a season ticket which works out at a fraction of the price. Not only that you can spread payments.

Individual match prices are for people who don't attend regularly.

But you can't shout "the referee's a ****" in the middle of the cinema though...

I'd highly recommend Cineworld next home game :D

I don’t think on the day price rises are fair. It’s a stealth tax designed to catch people out on the day some of which might not know they can go until the day.

Most owners of clubs would mate. Especially huge clubs. The likes of Madrid, Arsenal, Chelsea, United etc would love no season ticket sales, they'd love tourists in through the gate every game, they're much more tailored to TV, especially in America

Ticket sales are insignificant in the grand scheme of things for those clubs. They are funded by wealth & tv money.
