Need a striker, nothing up front today. Cosgrove was absolutely knackered with 20 minutes left. Clarke knows as we all do, need competition.
But that's not fact though is it. They have money yeah but he himself said he had better offers elsewhere but wanted to go back there You yourself are just assuming it's because they offered more
I will be surprised if we now bring in 2-3 known strikers with proven quality. I think we often mistake the end of the transfer window with the start of the season. More likely to bring in 1-2 lesser known loanees who may do the job to some extent or may not. More likely take time to develop and settle. There is the chance that we will find another unknown player from abroad whose signing creates excitement and after 3 month of visa / fitness / acclimatise issues doesn’t contribute much at all.
Ivan Toney left out of Brentford squad today, Frank said they are in transfer talks, we are chasing a strikers…oooooooooh
He's turned down Championship clubs to go back to Stockport allegedly, so there's no chance we'd have ever got him here.
The footballing powerhouse that is Stockport County… jesus ******* christ. We may as-well accept finishing 20th in this league now with that kind of attitude.
He was there last season and enjoyed it, he only wanted to go back out on loan again there. Nothing else to it
I just find it unbelievable how many strikers in the world with clubs or free agents and we can't get one over the line...we simply must be offering peanuts and peanuts as wages
Could have posted this in any number of threads, or started a new one, but I thought we’d probably got enough. I couldn’t sleep last night and spent about an hour on transfermarkt.com looking for strikers. I used the manual search function and put in the following parameters: Must currently play in England (to “know the league”) Must be between 23 and 30 (no inexperienced kids) Have less than 12 months left in their contract (we can’t pay a massive transfer fee) Must be a “centre forward” first and foremost. Let me tell you, it’s slim pickings. Even if you extend it out to 2 years left on the contract. I then looked at Premier League u23s. There are probably about 5 strikers we have a chance of signing and Lankshear is probably the best option. There’s a lad called Will Dickson at Man City who’s scored a fair few in the EFL trophy who might be worth a punt or Khayon Edwards at Arsenal. Other than that, forget it. I think an out of favour 25-30 year old from the championship on loan is the best chance we’ve got of bringing anyone effective in.
Scott Hogan would be a good signing and he's a free agent I dont know the logistics of the Mcatee deal but we were mad not to go in for him on a permanent (assuming we didnt try)
If we had another half-decent RWB and had drawn a blank on new strikers by the end of the window, I'd be giving Cotter a go up top. He's got the pace and can finish pretty well. His cameo as a striker at Bradford in that cup game last season was a bright spot in a dreadful night.
Just seen that, is he late to the party? Rumours are that DC didn't want him which is why the deal for Styles was held up, can't see us now saying here's the cash u gave us for styles we'll take Faal now. Or the other scenario is, that he's the only striker we can get
Who knows. Maybe we didn't want to sign him permanently, or WBA did not want to lose him permanently so the Styles thing ended up being a straight buy, and we are now trying to loan him maybe. You never know with Barnsley FC. Don't often do things the simple way.
