For the first time I can remember, there’s no mad queues at the East Stand kiosk at half time. Bout 4 people in it. Unheard of. Wonder if the price hikes are owt to do with it?
I think it's sexism. Blokes daren't buy a pint from women. If you look at them you melt instantly or spontaneously combust. Joking aside sounds like my kind of kiosk .
The off the field stuff is poor. Kiosk prices too expensive. Club shop can't get a sponsor printed on on a matchday so extra journey during the week when they could easily have some in ready to pick up. Car gates at bottom of Ponty manned by a few young girls shut so fans had to squash through the single file gate until one guy says "come on" then a girl opened it before someone opened it anyway.
Saw this last season with people being funnelled through that one gate until one bloke just walked between the “stewards” and pushed the big gate open - then everyone just got on with it - needs to happen every game.
In West Stand they had the kind of usual queues but had a little kiosk too at the back. First time I’ve seen that and seems a good idea. Prices are crazy though. £6 for a bottle of cider…
We called at the shop on the way and took with us some bottles of pop and trests for the lads, I got a dad treat Saturday pork pie. Saved a fortune and sat in the car with the radio on and got to our seats 5 mins before kick off. We would prefer to have a pint and a pie in the ground but it's not to be. Went on to the concourse East stand upper at half time, no queue at all never seen that before on a match day they are usually queueing past the toilets. Club only have themselves to blame on this one.
You must have been near me. 4'2" blonde girl opened the gate to ease the crush. Club don't own the club shop.
I got a free pint in the fan zone as a kindly gent had bought his mate one but his mate doesn't drink. If that was you Sir, I owe you one. Very kind.
I don't think she had a choice. If she hadn't someone would have opened it for her. Didn't say they did but as it's on Barnsley FC land and allowed it to be taken over they deserve pelters when service is rubbish.
Judging by posts Ive seen on social media, people are boycotting the concession stands due to the significant bump in prices and taking their own refreshments in with them. The club have got a tough scenario to deal with. Plugging the gap in finances to try and have a top 6 budget. It seems that hikeing up the prices in all areas of the club is the way the leadership are going to try and plug that but I wonder with the likes of Beth and Whitey no longer at the club is there the appreciation that Barnsley folk wont pay inflated prices?
It shouldn't matter about whitey or Beth though it's basic business that anyone with two braincells should know. Anyone who just hikes the prices without realising the obvious effect that will have is incompetent and shouldn't be in the job but judging by the absolute **** show off the pitch in ALL areas of the club I'm not surprised at all
Their argument would be prices are in line with other clubs/ entertainment venues. Go to sheffield arena and prices are more expensive. Personally, I dont believe Barnsley fans will just accept that based on my experience.
It's certainly one way to finally solve the queuing problem. Thing is it's not just the prices, it's also the environment. I think people would, and do, pay those prices, if it's a nice environment. But it's not that either. They're asking people to pay premier league prices for non-league facilities. We probably comfortably spend about £40 on food and drink on a match day. Unfortunately the Club are missing out on that, because the value for money is just terrible.
But again they should know that. It's incompetence of the highest order not to understand your market. As I said though I'm not surprised because there is incompetence everywhere off the pitch. Case in point TVs being knackered for about 10 months. No excuse just incompetence. Or worse, just a total lack of giving a **** about their customers
The TVs really annoy me. All they have to do is drive down to Currys five minutes down the road and buy some. Basic TVs are not expensive. Being a business customer as well Currys bend over backwards to give discounts to get business customers. I bet they could re fit them all for about 3/4 grand and all be sorted.
