We can confirm that Callum Styles has today joined West Bromwich Albion on a permanent transfer for an undisclosed fee, ending his six-year stay at Oakwell. The 24-year-old joined the Reds from his hometown club, Bury, in August 2018 as an 18-year-old and immediately returned to the Shakers to continue his developement. Being the first player born in the 21st century to feature in the EFL, Styles featured seven times for the Reds during the 18/19 promotion campaign from League One and continued to progress in the Championship the following campaign. Utilised as a left wing-back by then Reds Head Coach Valérien Ismaël during the 20/21 season, Styles impressed in the side that reached the Championship Play-Offs, scoring four goals and assisting four times over the course of the campaign. The following season saw Styles move on loan to Millwall, making 22 appearances for the Lions in an injury-disrupted spell in the capital. The Hungarian international began the 23/24 campaign with the Reds, scoring three goals and assisting twice before moving to the North-East in January 2024, linking up with Sunderland. Everyone at Barnsley Football Club thanks Callum for his efforts during his time at the Club and wish him all the best for the future. Continue reading...
https://www.wba.co.uk/news/callum-styles-joins-albion "It should be in the Premier League" Should it ballax, it's WBA there's a lot more better teams in that league than them.
Is his write up correct? Didn’t he play for us the season we were relegated and then joined Millwall the first season we had in league one?
Yep. Missed out at trying to get us promoted at Wembley etc. why i no longer care what happens with his career etc.
Hopefully the fee that we've got covers our costs over the years so he's hardly been one of our worst signings, good luck Callum.
Yeah but they have to say the diplomatic thing don't they (even if they dont mean it, and hate saying it). I can imagine the replies, if they publicly just said ohh f*k off Styles!!.
They just needed to say a deal has been agreed and he's signed for West Bromwich Albion and left it at that. You don't thank a player who's s behaved appalling for a couple of seasons now and wanted out of the club. Honestly what people do we have on the media team these days
Perhaps it was those "efforts" that enabled us to win against Forest and then Bretford, thast kept us in the league above were we are now. Just guessing though.
Thank god for that. Grateful for his goal at Brentford in July 2020 and his excellent performances in Val's season, but an absolute wasteman in the 3 years since then. West Brom must be absolutely bonkers signing Cole and now Styles - no idea what they're thinking.
Are they the ones responsible btw, for the ignorant lack of respect shown to former players, who have recently passed away. As for the Styles thing, yeah I know what I would have put, but it would have got taken down immediately!.
