That was my immediate thought. A combination of sun and possibly wind as well. Like you say it was still a bad error, but there is some mitigation there. And if we'd put away any of the string of chances to make it 3-0, it probably wouldn't have mattered.

I just thought at the last second his attention when to the player coming in, thats why he punched the player and not the ball.

I think he just made a mistake we've gone down the road of signing potential (on loan) as opposed to journey man league 1 keeper who will be 6/10 most weeks but no better. This lad could have a dozen 9/10 games but he will make mistakes roll of the dice I'm afraid only time will tell

It was ironic watching their keeper fumbling around most of the match but getting away with it only to see ours make a glaring error which, ultimately, cost us two points. He definitely moved out to the ball but then hesitated. He should have just hung back but he’s an inexperienced keeper who will learn from his mistakes

Mike Baldwin off corrie. This Baldwin used his head, not his hand.(I'm thinking of Maradona)

The guy has probably been our MoM against Wigan and Lincoln. He makes a mistake in his home debut though.

Phillips was our MoM yesterday but he also missed a sitter to make it 3 nil.

How I saw it too. Just unfortunate timing with Pines coming in.

You couldn't get a Rizla under him there. Poor goalkeeping

I think the sun will have played some part, but I think it was an error of judgement to come for it too. I reckon he makes a save if he stays on his goal line.

That being said, at the time, I said "this is Gaga's this", so I can't be too critical over his decision to come rather than stay.

It's his first mistake for us, he might not make another for months. I think there's just more emphasis because it's come so early in his Reds career. I'm much more encouraged by his 2 previous performances where he's won us 2 games.

List of equipment required by a GK

    Shirt shorts shinpads & boots
    Gloves
    Towel
    Water
    Suncap

    It’s not exactly difficult.

Poor judgement, an unfortunate ricochet, and definitely impeded by the sun looking at that. Plenty of players made errors yesterday, just unfortunate that if you're a keeper, half your mistakes will lead to a goal.

I think the mistake was being out there to start with, but having gone for it he should have been fully committed incoming player or not.
But **** happens and goalkeepers mistakes are magnified.
Hopefully her learns and we move on!

No, I think he got distracted by the oncoming player and took his eye off the ball. I think he would’ve signalled about the Sun if that was the case. He’ll learn

I haven’t watched it back but it also looked to me like Pines had got a shout to leave it from the keeper he should never have come for it at that angle it would have had to be some header to score from that angle.

It is but where’s our defenders? We had four centre halves on the pitch second half plus Russell and Cosgrove who are both over six foot. No way should we be conceding from a deep free kick. Pathetic all over….
