I was the same with Tetleys, never really liked it but drank it in Leeds hand pulled and it was a totally different beer.

Yep, taking away handpull changed everything. Blue Bell & Melbourne in Hemsworth were both Tetleys pubs before electric taps and both served up a good pint, as did a lot of others. The competition in Leeds was far too fierce for anyone not to keep a good pint. Far too easy just to walk to the next pub.

There is a beer called Tetleys original cask on offer in some real ale pubs, but I’m told it doesn’t measure up to the Tetleys we used to get, but I’d still like to try it for myself. I think the Black Rock in Wakey has it.

I live near Burton and know quite a few people who used to work at Marston's and Bass, I'm also a Camra member and we do monthly beery bike rides on a Friday night and some of the lads are very knowledgeable about beer so you learn quite a bit. I also volunteer at the Burton Beer Festival, doing setup and serving etc. I've got to know some of the lads and lasses who look after the beers. At the last festival, I had a very interesting conversation with a lass from Camra head office in London who also works for a Brewery about how they make Gluten-Free beer. Mind, I was 3/4 pissed at the time so she could have been talking ballocks....
