Ringo - I think previous posters have tried to make the point but let me try to express it differently - you have criticised 'the club' / directors / owners for making the statement about the release clause being 2 million. But you're not able to provide a link to any statement from a director or employee at the club which states that figure. Your argument is that they must've done in order for it to appear in the 'papers but surely you acknowledge that reporters sometimes stretch the truth and indeed make stuff up? I'm with other posters that I don't recall reading anything from someone employed at the club that confirms the figure.

There has never been any sort of confirmation about the amount of any release clause just that there is one. It’s not hard this stuff. Of course newspapers will speculate but it’s just that speculation

Because i don't record details of newspapers or online browsing but i believe it was even mentioned in this last Barnsley chronicle, but if you don't read any reports about the reds you see, its not my fault, but i have watched the reds for 72 years now and if i see them mentioned anywhere i read it but don't preserve it, in fact this is the only place things keep turning up because most people just want to argue, but all i can day if you haven't seen this quotation from the club in any media form over what is it the last 3 years since styles signed the last 4 year contract then you haven't much interest in the reds ,because quite honestly i am sick of hearing about it. My honest opinion the last proper chairman or head of the club , whatever you want call the title was john Dennis at least he wanted Barnsley to do well even if he hadn't the wealth to sort it

He wanted to save the club, but i believe he wasn't a big football fan, and before anyone kicks off that is what i heard from someone that was supposed to know him

I do know john Dennis wasn't just the owner/ head guy whatever you want to call him, was a true reds fan and i know he has been a regular at home matches since he packed in

Even more reason to admire him then no, mate? I couldn't imagine pumping money into something I don't give a toss about

Yeah I'm definitely not saying anything against him mate. I think there's plenty of good people who want the best for Barnsley, unfortunately just don't have the millions and millions to keep pumping in

You mean like all these arabs do at places like man city, if you pump money in and it comes off its called an investment, if it doesn't, hard lines, but there are plenty of business men over the years that have a few quid to spare , think i know, i ll buy a football club it sounds like it could make me more for me, even though they don't like the game, for a very few it pays off for a lot more its disaster

You can't seriously believe the reason City was bought was for a monetary investment? Clearly sports washing mate

That is a ridiculous accusation ,I watched a live game with him once in Portugal on TV.
He was behaving worse than me when we scored .

I don't claim to know him personally but on many occasions he said he was a Barnsley fan but he had no desire to own the club, owner of last resort type of thing but put his all in as well as considerable funds. Didn't always get it right but to be fair who gets things right 100% of the time.

John Denis was a fantastic chairman and a thoroughly nice bloke. His biggest aim was for Barnsley to be sustainable. He didn't put his own money in but he ran the club as a self sufficent entity.
Player transfers and ground improvements all came from player trading and grants.
I honestly think the present board are wanting the same as J.D but because of earlier mismanagement they're having to dig deep just to get us back on a level footing.
Many would have walked away with the criticism they get but I for one believe their intensions are good and the dream is to get us as bare minimum back into the Championship.
Just think potty mouthed empty promises or a board with a vision for the club.

So it’s all just what you get via twitter rather than people who work at the club?

Seems to me that's exactly what it is.

Which is fine, nice to have someone do the research and put it on here, but that's definitely not how it's presented. And some forum contributors have put their good name to defending him, and that doesn't seem fair to them.

I like reading rumours on here, whatever the source and don't care what that source is, but I don't actually believe anything until the club announces it. And Luca, although he's got some right, has got more wrong, so I'm surprised so many people think he has an inside source.

I don't think any of it really matters other than I don't think it's right to allow people to defend you when you know the position they're taking up isn't true and it's you that's duped them.

That’s not strictly true pal, but I can see how someone has made that comment. He didn’t like football, but he loved Barnsley Football Club. Like many on here aren’t about interested in what happens elsewhere, he was exactly the same.

From my own personal experience of the man, i always got the impression he feared the club growing. I don’t think he felt he had the wealth needed to support the club if it was to take the next step, and in the same breath, there wasn’t a queue of people wanting to invest in the club, so I think he liked where the club was as it seemed to work for him. I have no evidence of this, but it’s what was widely thought by the staff i worked with. You could argue that was the starting point of the decline in his relationship with Mark Robins.

Anyway, the genuine club ITKer on Facebook says that there's 2 incoming (loans) so that's good enough for me to know that there's something happening.
