Be an early night if that's the defence as I wouldn't fancy hanging around watching 5k away fans celebrating many goals.
I think Hourihane has to start. He needs to get his match fitness asap. His experience could prove invaluable
I think it was everything about fitness (lack of) his first touch was uncharacteristically poor, looked like he struggled to get back into position. Like I say, get him match fit and it’ll be like we’re talking about a different player.
Mix and match for me. Rest some but try and be competitive. Something like…… Slonina McCarthy Pines Earl O Keeffe Yonganatan Russell Hourihane Gent Lofthouse Watters Bench as strong as possible in case we have a sniff of a result.
O'Keefe? Saw enough of that joker last season never taking on or beating a man. His performance against young ManUres was poor, got sent off by being wound up by a kid.
Smith James Lopata McCarthy Cotter Russell Benson Yoganathan Lofthouse Marsh RandomYouth #1: Pick for development. Nobody else takes the competition seriously, so there's no value in us doing so. #2: Yes, Cotter's in with the youth team. That's because he's crap. How come we've not signed anyone better? #3: Not even pretending to have a forward
I'd like to see Lofthouse start at RWB. Watters could use more game time to keep that confidence building. Maybe give Gent a full game too.
Opportunity to start picking a settled 11 who learn to play together..Nearly all good sides pick themselves while we don't appear to have the 1st team anywhere near...
He’s got to play a strong side. It’d be suicide to play a reserve side & get battered at home in front of a packed away end. What I think we will see is maybe 3, possibly 4 changes at the most but ones where the replacements are on a similar level - the likes of Craig, O’Keeffe, Lofthouse, Pines maybe getting a start. I don’t think we’ll be seeing Wilkinson, Bland or Marsh starting.
Tbf, it depends what team Sheff Utd put out as well. If it's their reserves and kids vs our first team then we should give them a game. Would also help to build up fitness and understanding between DC's first choice 11
Sheff U’s reserve side would probably make the playoffs in L1 to be fair. If we play a second string from our threadbare squad we’ll get a proper tonking.
I'd be playing the team that's planned to play at Crawley. They need games together to stop looking like strangers.
Just hope Wilder sees it as an opportunuty to give his fringe players and kids a run out but I fear not.
