Clap, clap, clap clap clap, clap clap clap clap… THE REDS!” When did we start replacing “The Reds” with “Barnsley”? I’m 51 years old and don’t really like change… but joking aside, the noise from the Ponty tonight sounded ace in the East Stand Upper. Much louder than our neighbours who went home with their tales between their legs. So it’s a massive well done to all those who got behind the lads tonight.
We also get called the Tykes!. Which is weird because surely all Yorkshire teams, could call themselves that lol.
Not sure if Chesterfield fans beat us to that tbf. Seem to remember working in that area for yrs and em calling em that.
As I'm a bit old school I like to refer to us as "St Peters", or Preedy's Claret & Blue army, to keep with tradition. Latterly the "Colliers" or the Tykes would be acceptable, or Red Army. I also like to refer to shorts as knickers & socks as suspenders, but I realise this gets @Stephen Dawson a little too over excited.
