Darrell Clarke gave his thoughts on his team's 1-0 victory over South Yorkshire rivals, Sheffield United. The Reds reached the third round of the Carabao Cup after Max Watters' second half finish was enough to overcome the Blades at Oakwell. Providing a response to the draw against Northampton Town the game prior was a key factor on Tuesday night according to our Head Coach. “Big pat on the back to the players," he began. "Good response from Saturday. I was very disappointed and angry still on Monday morning, to be honest, the way we chucked three points away but then you’re looking for a response and the group did that well tonight. I thought the game management was a lot better tonight. “The clean sheets are important. You know we need more clean sheets moving forward but it was a good night”. With two goals in two games, striker Max Watters has continued to impress Clarke when leading the line for the Reds. Our Head Coach praised the 25-year-old's persistence off the ball. “I think he’s been solid in all the games this season. He’s got his two goals but his work rate off the ball, chasing things, lost causes and then you get your rewards”. “I said to Max, you work hard, and you get your rewards and Max has been doing that so credit to him”.
