Personally I'm not concerned by this news at all. If a player doesn't wasn't to come then he doesn't want to come. Move on and forget it. None of us know the complete story but it sounds like the club did what they needed to. Just didn't happen. Even at this late stage of the window I'll stay patient. May be someone better coming in in the last minute. May be nobody. I'll wait and see....I'll worry and criticise later if I need to get some frustration out of my system...
Just joking mate... But there's no need to get so irate over someone else's post that essentially agreed with your perspective. Of course I'd like another striker or 2. I'd also like another attacking midfielder. But I'd like to get to the end of the window before we have an inquiry. It makes perfect sense to leave it late to me. Early in windows, clubs that want to sell and players that want to move hold out for more money. At the end they have to take what they can get. Even more so with loans. It's well known that Prem clubs want their young players out on loan and playing so when it gets to the end of the window they are much more likely to cover the full wage. Appreciate fully that it can be a disaster when it goes wrong - and it possibly has with this guy. But we still might have dodged a bullet.. he sounds temperamental (to be polite.)
It's happened before and it'll happen again - who was the French lad who turned us down when Hecky was here? That was after he'd chosen his squad number!
Whatever we offer is to recompense (in part) the club loaning him. The player keeps getting paid from his existing club... So any peanuts are what he's being paid already.
Deals fall down at any stage we know.. this one, meh! you don't miss what you've never had.. But the fact is as a club, board and recruitment team we've know for 6 months now the Cole and McAtee would not be here this season.. 6 months.. now we're counting down the hours But i will hold my water until the window shuts.. And await with interest which of our No1 targets we manage to get over the line.. Also if Clarke actually plays em or not.. will be a bit of an indication of how far down the road of last minute panic we've gone..
Not every player that has signed for another club is a target for us. We have absolutely no idea what the ins and outs are of every (or any) transfer deal. So that's purely speculation. I honestly couldn't tell you who we've actually missed out on other than this lad, and we know for a fact that wages were irrelevant in this one.
Rotherham signing 20 or so players has done them no good at all so far, has it? Some signings work immediately, some take time. Maybe they will come good for the Millers but I bet the Rovrum supporters are posting nothing but grumpy stuff on their board at the moment. As regards our situation I'm not too upset we're not getting a player I've never heard of who might have been dynamite in L1, or might have been a flop. Anyway his arrival would have probably pushed Cosgrove or Watters out of the picture and they both deserve a chance to shine this season. I'd rather have a player who complements what we have, not replaces them, so DKD might fit the bill perfectly. He's got a decent scoring record and despite looking ordinary the other week against us could slot in to our team nicely. If he's played as a forward he could partner either of those two just mentioned and we might get ourselves a good player who will only get better. Whatever happens I'm not panicking like some on here. We have NO IDEA what is going on at the club recruitment-wise so how about having a bit of patience. We'll get what we get, like it or lump it
Players we're linked with never seem to come off anyway - then suddenly we announced someone random out of nowhere.
I wonder if drawing Manure away has altered things financially regarding our targets. If he failed a medical but they've gone with the personal reasons excuse to save his face.Wonder if that slight shortfall in the offers for Dkd and Faal will now materialise.
