Non league punt that probably didn’t cost a lot to be fair. Some work. Most don’t.

He always seems to want to go and play minutes somewhere. Which is a positive for him.

I actually didn’t mind him before his injury last season but I don’t think he gets in ahead of what we have now.

Yet he was arguably better, and has had more minutes under DC, than C McCarthy.

A couple of injuries and we’re struggling at centre half

I would agree. I guess the difference is Lopata seems like he’s asked to go and play football whereas McCarthy is possibly more content to be reserve and only play when absolutely needed.

In the clubs opinion he wasn't good enough last season and we have added Robbo and Pines, came to us to play he said and he wasn't going to do best for both party's I think.

You’d hope one is coming in now. Unless they do a runner….

From what I’ve seen of Lopata, in my opinion he looks a much better option than de Gevigney. Defensively we’ve been awful since loosing Mads, Kitchen & Thomas (although the latter wasn’t our player). I thought this kid looked decent, he’s got the attributes and should have be given his chance in the first team, learning his trade at the side of an experienced defender in Robo, he’d be a much better proposition than Earl & de Gevigney. I don’t understand why we sign these players to send them out on loan and in his case, he was sent out last season on loan.

Through ownership incompetence and bad financial management, we’ve become a mid table, third tier club (we should be stable, in the second tier), if we cant blood players at our current level, when can we? And if they are not up-to the required standard, why are they being signed?

Same with other non league signings last summer
-Sign him for free on low wages.
    - Test him out.
    - Realise he isn’t good enough. Loan him out and worst come to worst we sell him for a fee and make a profit.

Alright if you’re wanting to make a bit of sneaky profit. Less so if you’re relying on them to make an impact on the first team, less so.

The club doesn’t make any profit from this approach. Oli Shaw prime example. The other lad Dallas, sent him out on loan, he’s hardly kicked a ball in 18 months. It costs the club and takes money out of the 1st team budget, which should be accumulated to attract a smaller quantity of better quality players, to get the club back to the championship. It’s bad financial management especially when the club is skint! It’s ok to do this as a side hustle if the club had the operating capital to spare and maybe something may come off, however the club is not cash rich. In Lopata’s case he’s 23 years old, 24 when he returns from Scotland. If it’s not deemed to be good enough for our 1st team now, he isn’t going to be in a year’s time. He may gain experience he may sit on the bench at Ross County for a year, then we send him out again. It’s the farcical way our club is run and we wonder as fans why no player worth his salt wants to sign for us, when the club blatantly use the players as low grade commodities.

But maybe he's done playing for us now.

There’s a bit of irony in that, because the guy who scored Northampton’s equaliser, Baldwin, was recently signed from Ross County. Lopata is probably going to help replace him.
