Have been sat on 12 points and top of the league, if only we can sort the home form out, battered Mansfield from the point of 1-2 and stupidly chucked 2 points away against Northampton. Very earlier on so not getting carried away but we have the makings of a good side, sort the home form out and get the team to gel and there's no reason we can't push for a top 6 spot
I thought the criticism was very harsh last week to be honest, after the Northampton game. Yeah I know its so annoying that we keep conceding so many at home, and the wait goes on still for our next home win in the League. It made it an average start to the season (pl 3, w1, d1, l1, pts 4), which meant not great and not terrible either. Today though has shown that we might do much better away from home again this season. Which kept last season going for so long of course, under Collins.
The trend from last season of picking up more points away than at home continues. Could it be negative vibes from the crowd? I don’t profess to know the answer to that to be honest
Yeah I hope so, and ok maybe a lot of the flak was aimed at the result itself. Rather than it also being about the start to the season!.
I think it had a huge impact last season, within the first minute if we kicked the ball sideways or backwards the groaning & moaning started. The stick some of the players got, downright abuse at times. Are we really pretending the players don't read **** on twitter and social media? Ofcourse they do, or their families do. The atmosphere at Oakwell has been poor for yonks now, but it's gone from quiet to groaning & moaning no matter what at times. Hopefully with a more attractive style of play, the fans will back off abit... But given the fact the lads got booed against Mansfield makes me think not
It’s a bit of a chicken and egg question. The crowd really does need to make a collective effort to lift the team from the off and equally the team getting on to the front foot from the kick off
But the reality is we're not. We've got 7 points from 4 games. As @dreamboy3000 mentioned, other teams will be saying the same things, it's a case of coulda, woulda, shoulda. Lincoln fans will be saying how the **** did they not get a point or 3 against us when we sat back at 2-1 up and to be honest were lucky to get the win in the end. I'd rather not dwell on what's happened but look forward, there are new signings to come in and I genuinely think we've got the makings of a good team. Hopefully we can sort the home form out.
Give it time. Last year I was bored at most if not all the home matches including the first one. I know it's early days but I haven't been bored yet this season and I put that down to the diferrent approaches by the coaches.
Its very rare I think this and start to believe it as well, after just 4-5 games. But I did think it in the Stendel (promotion) season. And obviously I thought it in the Wilson (promotion) season. This season though is just not clear at all yet, at this stage.
We definitely seem to be progressing well, we have the players now and if we can solidify by Christmas , we then have the option to tweak it in January from a position of strength,
I think you have it 100% spot on. The atmosphere in the ground last season was toxic. Certain players couldn't do anything wrong. However if Russel gave the ball away ,you could hear 3 sides of the ground moaning in disbelief. Players play on confidence, and at oakwell, ,some of them look like rabbits in headlights. Needs the crowd to raise their game. Also agree if the team gets on the front from the first minute this will help too.
