Tim Burgess put £500 behind the bar of a pub in Cardiff after their show with New Order was cancelled a few weeks ago because of the weather. Not keen on his music, but another of the good guys.
I like Paul Heaton, I’ve even been to see him but it’s a daft comparison. If Paul significantly increased his tickets people wouldn’t go. There isn’t the same demand. It’s a bit like us saying look how great we are we aren’t ripping fans off with ticket prices like Man Utd are for example.
Completely get what you're saying, and agree to an extent but I guess it doesn't mean they have to charge extortionate prices, especially "dynamic pricing". The difference between our ticket prices and Man United's is nowhere as steep as PH and Oasis, either. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should, especially if you champion yourselves as the band for the working classes.
I agree with that. I’m hoping somethings done in the near future about ticketmaster, stub hub & any other company ripping people off. The whole ticket buying process is farcical for any popular event.
Apparently Oasis set the dynamic price range though, but it needs looking at particularly resale sites.
Looking at the dates they've released (end of September), it probably confirms the leak that they're going to American between the Dubling gigs in mid August and the end of September. Then probably leaves room for the European dates as rumoured for October.
Not only does he want fans to be able to buy a drink, he often puts money behind the bar. £35 is cheap for a ticket though, his tours usually sell out.
To be fair they were probably the biggest band in Britain at the time! Good day out Knebworth, but The Prodigy stole the show for me.
The prodigy always stole the show! I went to a gig at Brixton where they started playing at midnight and didn't finish til after half 2. I saw them at gmex with foo fighters which was mental, but the Brixton one was a whole other level of mental multiplied by mental squared.
I agree MT. That was my point really,, 'at the time '. I enjoyed Oasis at the time, but this is 2024 and they're no Rolling Stones!
Given Liam's unsympathetic response to fans disappointment regarding the ticket pricing I'm not sure I agree with your take on Liam @Mr C
They're absolutely taking the pi$$. As utterly predictable, starting to behave like absolute bellends again, on social media etc. But, as long as people are prepared to play along, they're part of the problem really.
So the tickets sell, and due to dynamic pricing, the fewer tickets are left, the higher the price goes. After people have paid £350 for a £150 ticket, they put two more shows on and create a glut. And they called the pistols tour the great rock n roll swindle!
I wonder which channel the definitely won’t be televised concert will be shown on, my guess is pay per view
3 of the top 4 albums and 2 of the top 10 singles. The Oasis affect has been out in force in the charts this week. Lovely to see Definitely Maybe topping the album charts.
I'm of the opinion that the Gallagher brothers have a "***** quotient". When one of them becomes less of a *****, the other has to become more of a ***** to make up for it.
