It always makes me laugh when somebody posts 'Get Rammell on', on the Match day threads.
And I think his departure was really disappointing, but maybe he thought after 5 years its time for somewhere else now.
And he just had to score against us that season didn't he, when he came back to Oakwell with Saarfend.
And look at who we got in that swap deal!!.

 

When I was a student nurse in Liverpool, a mate of mine (another student nurse) was a Chester fan. He was with me in the canteen that day, us listening to the football on the radio, having managed to time our break for full-time in the footy, congratulating me on us reaching the play-offs, shortly before Brighton scored a 156th minute equaliser. Anyway, I turned up to work one day, on the cardiac unit and Mike grabbed me and said to come and meet a new patient that had come in that morning, an old chap who was another Chester fan. He said to the chap “How long have you been watching Chester?”
“57 years”
“And with those 57 years of experience, who was the better striker at Chester, Ian Rush or Stuart Rimmer”
“Rimmer, easily”
“That’s what I’ve been telling him [pointing at me] but he didn’t believe me”

I still find it hard to believe!

 

He came with a great reputation. I don’t know what went wrong and why he left so soon. I remember him missing a few one-on-ones with the keeper across a couple of games and he disappeared some weeks later.
