Hey Gord, was it in the Clarke '78 promotion season, when we led them 4-1 at home after 80+ minutes. And then he completed a hat trick and they drew 4-4!!.
Always think of Selwyn lol. (Not the one most will know of today but all us old ones will) We were on the opposite side from our main contingent. He stood on top of one of the dugouts beckoning the stockport fans to come and have a go. Copper grabbed him and marched him across the pitch to the other side. With me and everyone else posl. Also a great social club that I've been in on 2/3 occasions. Not sure on this one but I think Mike Summerbee played for em in one of the games.
Mike Flynn for me. Because he was an absolute donkey of a defender who was made to look exactly that when the likes of Shipperley, Hristov and Sheron were here. So to see him rock up here a year or two later was embarrassing. Useless he was.
Read an interview with him about his time here a few years back, came across as a bitter old crank, said Barnsley fans were a bit weird or words to that effect...........sithi.
He reputedly said we’re ‘strange fans’. I tend to agree with him in the case of some. He was still crap through.
Seem to remember a more recent game when we were cruising and they came flying back at us at Oakwell, plus a 3-3 game at Edgeley Pk where they had a penalty taken 2 or 3 times until they scored.
Nardiello and Gorre also sat with the fans, and Stockport was the first and last time I saw a former poster from this group, surrounded by his followers. If they only knew eh?
Went in the Stockport social club around Christmas /New Year time when the match was in doubt.A woman came round with a domino card at 25p a go.It was a full card with all 92 teams on it.It soon sold out."and the winner of the card is " ME shouted the woman.Still tickles me all these years later.
Went to Stockport in the late 60's when Edgley steam railway shed was right next door. It was a Friday night and the steam engines where parking up for the weekend emptying their smoke boxes and everything you could hardly see anything until the smoke/steam had settled.
I was there one Friday night and Zig a Zagga (one for you older reds ) shouted is there an airport round here as the twenty something aircraft flew over.
I remember Me, Ged and Alan Graham in at one game B. And a few bobbies from tarn rolled up in civies to see the game. Playing I think it was Chase the Ace or brag. Alan took em tut cleaners lol.
