And while you're at it, what is the source for your claim he wants to impose NI on pensioners?

I don't know why you're all bothering responding tbf.

It happened the other week when he couldn't understand why those poor rioters were being prosecuted so quickly.

    Let it be.

Sadly, you're right. When facts are wilfully ignored, when evidence doesn't exist... There's little hope in cutting through.

The worrying aspect is there are too many with preconceived prejudice who will create alternate universes and encourage others to accept that nonsense. It's already been hugely damaging in this country, I just hope the contagion has reached its zenith.

There's always going to be people on low wages. You seem to think we could have a society where everyone is well paid if they just pulled their socks up.

My point is that whilst there will always be low paid/earning workers, some of it is by choice - how many there is is subjective - to think that every single member of every workforce is putting in the maximum number of hours they could is ridiculous - in part because of the benefit system. Most people know someone who is doing for example 16 hours so that they get certain benefits - it' not rocket science or rachel riley maths that if someone earns £20000 p/a and pays £2200p/a into the system through tax and NI, but then claims £700 per month in universal credit, then the system is out of pocket - £2200 in to have someone take £8400 out!!

The problems are far more deep rooted than just simply taxing the higher earners more - there are billions wasted on the public sector. What will end up happening in this sector though is AI will start to do some of the tasks they pay £20000+gold plated pension/sick pay for - this will then lead to backlash from the public sector , who at the minute probably think Labour are fantastic as they folded quicker than a member of the world origami team

The richest one per cent now hold nearly 25 per cent of all UK wealth. That's why they pay the most tax.

Billionaire psycho low life scum who care not a jot about anyone in the country they live but themselves. And when the tax goes up "whhhaaaah".

My friend is high up in the IT world. Previously he'd worked for the government and he had to justify, rightly, every penny on every project.

Then he got a job with Astra Zenica. He could not believe how profligate they were. Burned through money needlessly on all projects across the company. When he interjected and suggested there was a cheaper way to do things he got the reply "Why would we do that?".

He said he found it hard to take these companies seriously when they bitch about paying more tax.

You're right about some people working harder than others. Was ever thus. Youre also correct about some people watching their hours because of benefit clawback. And there's always money wasted, always has been. So I agree with you to a degree. However, I'm not sure what your overall point is. Are you saying benefits should be scrapped because they're inefficient?

You can work so many hours and still claim the dole. Big thing for a few of the people that worked at Bacon factory, Sherburn Industrial Estate. Working a couple of days on the agency and having the day off to sign on was the norm. (Only working when you needed to.)

Don't know if times have changed. Thankfully I got out of that life style.

I did say most people, not everyone - without meaning that to come across rude.

You'll never see benefits scrapped, but the system is unfit for purpose as it can give people a choice due to the difference between working a full week and a part week/claiming benefit being negligible. The fact is that if you work a full week compared to claiming benefit, the gap should be noticeable. For a start they could pay the benefit in vouchers, and also get them a mentioned before voluntary work such as litter picking etc .
