I'd advise anyone planning on using the M62 to get home next Tuesday to find an alternative route. The weekend full closures both ways at J19-J20 have been bad enough (took us over 4 hours to travel 3 miles last weekend) but there are other overnight closures pretty much every night over the next week or two. https://huddersfieldhub.co.uk/m62-c...pomL6cS1y0USI8aOc0_aem_AP2nen_VS85fZsCKFVS4DA
I remember decades ago when Tintwistle and Mottram traffic jams seemed to take hours to get through. Is it still the same?
Got stuck coming off the M61 onto the M60. Only going one junction to our son's place at Whitefield. Four lanes down to one. Idiots leaving it till last minute to move across. Absolute chaos
And a terrible attempt at a bypass it is too. They’ve waited all these years just to move the bottleneck further down. I’m sure it’ll improve things, but a full bypass of all the villages is what’s required.
Add to the mix around 50,000 Wednesday fans heading to Blackpool via Snake, Woodhead or M62. What could go wrong?
If I’m crossing the motorway at Dodworth about 3.30 towards Woodhead what time do you reckon I’ll get to the ground? Is Tintwistle horrendous at 4.15ish heading towards Manchester?
Went with National Express over the weekend on M62 - was expecting it to be worse than what it was to be honest.
For getting there, drop down into Holmfirth and pick up the A635 Greenfield Rd and go via Stalybridge. Coming back Woodhead will be fine late evening.
The Manc lorry drivers who regularly come to our site in Normy, are always complaining about the effing M62, on weekday nights!. Saying it's regularly blocked and/or even shut down in parts. So is it really going to be a problem for our travelling fans next week ?.
