Sides have been known to collapse after the January transfer window and go down from playoff chasing positions - dont know how they started the season though. Just looking at our most recent relegations in 2021/22 we had 6 points after 5 games in 2017/18 we had 6 points after 5 games in 2013/14 we had 4 points after 5 games in 2001/02 we had 4 points after 5 games in 1997/98 we had 6 points after 5 games Looks like 6 points after 5 games is a dangerous points total for us or 4 we seem to be OK with other numbers I really dont see us being in a relegation battle this season though
No - They went down but at Xmas they were 11th with 34 points After 5 games they had 13 points and were top though !!!
Port Vale last season took 10 points from the first 5 games. On the 11th September last season, they were 4th with 13 points from 6 games. And after 7 games, they were in 2nd...
5/12/2015 18 points from 20 games. Rock bottom of league. relegation nailed on. As Greavesy said "Its a funny old game " One of. If not the greatest turnaround of any football clubs fortunes in history. Yooooooo reddddds
Not far off, we're top of the league after 20 games until 2nd December 1995 until speculation and links between Mick and becoming Irelands manager, stupendous collapse.
Make that five. Mansfield didn’t deserve that win and Northampton stole the draw. Five points lost that shouldn’t have been.
Yeah should have won every game thus far. Even away at Wigan in the Cup. (Should have won in normal time).
Hmm, we were awful second half at Lincoln, very fortunate to leave with a victory. So if we're adding points on then we have to do the reverse. You don't always get what you deserve and it works both ways. We've made a good start, unfortunate in some games, fortunate in others, but crucially I reckon there is a lot better to come.
But your definition of awful is how you saw it. I just saw a home team piling on the pressure like we did in the first game and our lads unable to break out for a crucial third goal. I admit it wasn’t great to watch but I want a team that scraps for points some weeks while turning on the style other weeks (Bristol Rovers for example). I don’t expect to see us win every game but a mixture of those qualities will see us pushing for promotion again and, this time, succeeding.
