    I still think the problem at Manvers was that there were 3 protests planned in South Yorkshire on the same day - Doncaster, Sheffield and Manvers. As it turns out, the first 2 were effectively decoys to split the police and anti-protestors and let the thugs congregate at Manvers.

    Why the police didn't use the courts to stop the protests happening before they took place is a question that should be considered. (iirc the courts have the power to stop events on the grounds of public safety)

    I think however distasteful a protest is we’ve got the right to do so peacefully and within the law, banning it would have only empowered the numbskulls imo

    are the sentences being imposed? Or are we changing the goal posts to suit. Law changed with a custodial sentence recently for stealing pets. Orginally dealt with same as a pushbike or stealing a garden gnome. Btw i agree there should be a stronger deterrent to protect family pets but an example of a law change and the change to time served.
