The club have posted a couple of videos of him on socials this week. A highlight reel of his a few days ago, and his goal away at Wolves (8 years ago today) this morning. Some sort of announcement incoming? He said on Undr the Cosh that he was disappointed with the way his time with the club came to an end. It would be good if we could do something to make amends a bit.
I would love for him to be back at the club in some capacity. Do think you’re putting 2 and 2 together though. The Wolves clip showed all the goals (what a game that was by the way). The clip of just his highlights is also a trend going round on social media recently.
He said at the legends night last month at the metrodome that he’d had a chat with Bobby Hassell about it and that he wants to be involved in coaching at the club. Fingers crossed for him. Clearly loves the club.
Ah, it does, you're right. On Instagram though, they've put Barnsley fc with Adam Hammill, which is why I think I was putting 2 and 2 together. They've tagged Hourihane, Bradshaw and Saidy Janko too, but not put them 'with' them (if you get me).
Would be great to see him at the Club in some capacity. I wouldn’t suggest he’s near the senior squad, but I think he could be a great mentor for the kids.
Really decent bloke ,loved his time here . Really puzzled why he left ,when he had so much to offer the kids with his experience on and off the pitch. Hope he is back at the club one day coaching.
Ahh get you. Maybe this can speak it into existence. Would be great to get him working with some younger players in the academy to try and bring through our own flair players who want to dribble past people.
Isn't it just part of the Barclaysmen trend where clubs & fans have been sharing videos of old players?
Whilst I like Adam's enthusiasm and love for the club. I believe he can bring passion and be a great motivator. I reckon Conner would not have become the great player he became after Hammill came back and stopped him faffing abart going to ground when unnecessary. Where do you draw the line. Certainly not create a position for the sake of it. Some of the coaching staff have connections to the club during their playing days. But to me the manager if he wishes should have a say in who he would like to bring to the club. Collins just got a new job. Maybe he would like his mate Stead to join him. (And vice versa) ? That would open a position.
Tell you what, it's f.cking lovely seeing someone take a player on innit. F.ck tika taka and patterns.
Then, after scoring in 2 Wembley finals for us, he was promised a new deal, which never materialised, and found out he'd been released through the club website. That's a pretty bad way to treat anyone, let alone a club legend.
I didn't realise that's how he ended up leaving. You know, from time to time, we do some really shoddy things. It doesn't cost anything to have a face to face meeting with a legend who clearly loved his time here, even if to give him bad news.
At the recent Legends night, he explained that Stendal went to his house to talk about a new contract and three years was discussed. Was then asked to go on the pre-season tour, so understandably asked about the contract - if he got injured on tour and out of contract, he’s in a difficult position. Then got told that Conman had withdrawn the offer “as he had no resale value”. Maybe not, but what about all the other value he brought to the club, the fans and the town. Still, par for the course for Conman. First class idiot.
Thanks for this. Missed it on the original thread but just watched/listened on my work dinner. Some good stuff in there. A very poor way to leave the club. That “no resale value” approach was stupid at the time and it’s stupid in hindsight too.
