Early thoughts from me as I’ve a busy night ahead. That performance was as shocking as the kit. Stevenage were always going to make it difficult. They play hard and direct. It’s not pretty. But it’s a tactic, a plan. I’ve no idea what our strategy was today. Don’t think we strung more than a handful of passes together. That said, we looked the most likely in the first half, but Earl and Cotter’s finishing summed the afternoon up. Then the second half happened. Chuff knows what that was about. Plenty of changes, be it subs or systems that somehow made the side progressively worse with each alteration (Fabio aside). An inability to control the ball, terrible passing, horrendous defending and given a hiding by the hosts who actually ditched the long balls in the final quarter and began to cut us apart at will. Worrying to watch. Oh well. Only Manchester United next up! Enjoy your weekends. You Reds.
No, they're proper football clubs with history and tradition and they'll both be around the top six, so no, of course not. Plus, we didn't just lose. We got battered.
Ooh, I'm an utter wimp when it comes to pain, old mate, so I'd rather not. It may well be possible that I've misunderstood you.
I'm not going to comment too much on the performance, because I've only listened to the game on the wired wireless. It sounded as though Stevenage tried to make it as difficult as possible for us in the first half, and succeeded. It sounds like Clarke tried to change it at half time so that we could get more of a foothold in the game, and it played into their hands. We didn't deal with set pieces effectively, similar to out defeat to Mansfield. Did we need to make such drastic changes at half time when, we weren't playing well, but we were comfortable? Unless Pines was injured of course. I reckon some of it will be players having an eye on Tuesday night. Thankfully that's the next game and we can get that out of the way and back to league action.
Hows losing to a team finishing a few places below us last season embarrassing? Your coming across all Wednesday, they finished high up last season for a reason and beat us last season, it's not like we've just been beaten by a National league North team is it. We've been beaten by the Burton's and Morecombes but today for some reason it's different. No getting away from it, it was dreadful but don't exaggerate into something it isn't, just a very very bad showing.
Basically we are a soft touch when we play teams with a real physicality and too many players go missing obviously the two substitutions didn’t help us at half time but a really worrying second half. On a side note the Stevenage captain always has a brilliant game when we play them and today was no different he looks a proper leader.
I would think because we lost 3-0 to a team with an inferior budget, team, infrastructure, history and anything else you can think of. The performance and result today were utterly, utterly embarrassing and the players and management should be ashamed. There's no sugar coating it.
I'm not sure what expectation has to do with anything if I'm honest. But like it or not, we're in the same division as Stevenage. They're here on merit, and it's a bit disrespectful to say it's embarrassing to have lost to them. They had a better game plan on the day than us, it's really that simple.
Well that was poor. First half we didn't look like scoring but we didn't look like conceding either. 2nd half was a proper shítshow. At least Jalo came back from injury and looked lively.
No mate we were bad, really bad, really really bad. Darrell might talk the the talk but today was crap
