Pleased to hear that the Pines substitution was enforced and not tactical or else i would be worried but still i don’t get the reasoning behind the Cotter change.
Yea fair enough. I think he is honest enough there...we were proper out muscled there and the changes made us considerably worse. The other year it was teams who could apply high press and pass through our lines (Exeter, Lincoln rtc)....maybe this year without certain players etc we will struggle versus very physical "in yer face teams". Let's hope this is a lesson he learns from....its still early.
I didn’t get to give my full attention to the match today as we had family round but I didn’t think we were doing a lot wrong at 0-0. It was a poor game but I’m not sure why we needed to make two changes at half time unless there was an injury. I thought it would have made more sense to keep it tight & try & nick it later on with our pace. I suppose that’s with hindsight speaking but then again I don’t think I’ve ever called for two subs at half time when we’ve been level.
Obviously not many on here heard the Clarke interview re Pines going off. He got elbowed in the face and couldn’t see out of one eye. Fair enough reason not to carry on
I think it was fairly obvious that Pines was forced off, I thought so at the time, but why take Cotter off too, he was having a good game. Could have just made the one change and kept it same as.
Its horrible shi*t football and I wouldn't cross the road to watch it. If that's the best Stevenage can do though, then I wish them absolutely no future good luck, at all. Wycombe went through that phase under Ainsworth, and think of Wimbledon all those years as well, as the awful dirty crazy gang. Thankfully its not the way we try to win matches, and I will just try to forget about this game now. We move on to the next game... away at ManUre!.
No forward running midfield leaves us with Baz on the wing or us lumping it aimlessly forward, which we persistently did. We did a few pretty patterns early doors, as in earlier away games, and then were outfought. By the end Stevenage were giving us a lesson in how to play it about. Nobody played well Glass half empty tonight.
Hopefully a one off but DKD had a poor game. I was watching them doing the shooting drills prematch and his shooting was well off and he looked realy frustrated with it. Just had a feeling them he was going to have a bad game
Superman to invisible man in one week Nothing worked for us today so best just to forget and move on.
