Good job Adam Phillips hasn't been reading this. At least I hope he hasn't. https://www.bbc.com/sport/extra/7ruba7shs4/the-slow-death-of-the-screamer
I mentioned earlier in the week that Phillips only scored one of his 11 goals last season from outside the area. So I wouldn't be worried.
The season before though, didn't we score more goals from outside the box than anyone else in the country?
It’s strange that in a time where players are more technically gifted (in general) than they have ever been, that managers want them to practically pass the ball into the net.
Except the stats seem to be saying that it's the right thing to do. Same as bringing everyone back to defend corners and not leaving a man up. It's less exciting for us as fans, but managers do it because on balance of probability it's more likely to yield the desired result.
Nobody's told Luca, he's had as many shots from outside the box so far this season as the whole of last season (maybe).
On the flip side…can’t wait to see QPR’s equaliser against the Owls this afternoon. Alan Mcinally described it as a 20 man rugby scrum on the Wednesday goal line and a QPR player lashed it into the net. 96th minute after Bannan had given them the lead on 93.
