Not really I just find it abit strange coles still a scapegoat and he's not even at the club. Time to focus on our own strikers be suprised if and scored more then 12 this season.
Mowatt made it clear that he wasn't renewing his contract, even if we'd gone up to the Prem for one season. But his 'gift' to us at least, was playing his best season so far, which was in the Val season.
I feel like he’s still a bit under appreciated by a lot of our fans. For me he’s the best midfielder we’ve had (permanently) since Hignett. He could have quite easily won player of the season 3 years running too he was that good. Also a top lad who’s come back to watch us a few times. He had loads of time for fans at Wembley last year.
I'm a big fan of his. His departure represented a massive loss for us and was, in my opinion, a major reason for our relegation the following season.
Well, that was down to a lot of things, like hiring both Schopp & Asbaghi for example lol. But yeah losing Mowatt was always going to be difficult.
The problem we had was we lost mowatt people believed styles could step up and take his place and we signed players like Benson oulare and iseka for the championship and the 2 head coaches 2 of the worst we have ever had. Interesting that styles wasn't in the west brom squad today nor was Cole.
Totally agree with this. Fabulous player for us. Almost right up there with Redders. Good to see him doing so well
He’s a great lad. Top drawer. He was to be moved on in the summer of 2018 but Stendel fell in love with him during the first week of pre-season training and the rest is history. Big Val adored him similarly. He was just a workaholic and brought others along with him. Which, as he admitted himself publicly, wasn’t the case before he came here. He assumed his talent was enough. But he came back from Oxford determined to change and yeah, the results were obvious.
Remember Mowatt's debut when we signed him from Leeds, he was sent off for a dangerous two footer at home to Wolverhampton. I think he still thought he was playing for Leeds that night lol. He clearly didn't settle down then at that time and a lot of us thought who/what on earth have we signed here ?!!. He needed some loan time elsewhere, and he learned from it because he was like a different player on his return. Btw, this is when I thought things went downhill badly under Hecky and he lost the plot, so it can't have been easy for Mowatt or any of the players.
Not fit to lace Conor’s boots. A good but not great player. His lack of athleticism stops him getting to the elite and stopped him from being in our elite
Readers was a league above wasn't he top scorer out of all Premier midfielders when we were in prem, can't remember if it was 15 mowatt wouldn't handle prem like readers.
I think he was slightly better than Hourihane but loved them both. Hourihane better at set pieces but Mowatt a bit better in open play for me. I actually think the lack of athleticism is what stopped both of them from making it at the very top.
