Yes, for anything above mid table league one level. But we knew that anyway, he should be a bit part player, but it speaks volumes of our recruitment & poor alternatives that we have to use him more.
Imho...I'll include our last two games ...I will say its very early doors and I'm sure our coach knows how much work there us to do especially defensively. Stevenage player for player are not as good with a football than ours, yet they comprehensively beat us because of their game plan. This is what will have to get so much better at....I accept we don't look fit at times, I accept that our French lad isn't fantastic at defending. Roberts is still probably our best cb despite some observations. Pines not the greatest footballer I've seen but we need his physicality. Not sure how Burton play but if they are Stevenage esq...I expect another uncomfortable afternoon.
Burton are nothing like Stevenage. Tidy footballing side with a lot of pace going forwards. Very flimsy at the back, extremely vulnerable on crosses. I'm sure DC will have done his homework.
I think it's more how we lost the games that brought the reaction. Getting tonked 3-0 by a Stevenage a side who had only scored 2 goals previously is bound to stir a reaction. We all knew we'd be getting well beaten last night if we're honest but who expected by 7?!! The manner we conceded the goals was an embarrassment, no two ways about it.
Thats better news then, cheers. We did pretty well away at Lincoln, who are tidy....let's hope same again.
It doesn't mean to say the questions are valid though...no matter how well someone plays there will be someone on here criticising.
I read that their squad value is a whopping £846 million, as opposed to ours, a modest £11 million. No contest.
Literally 10 minutes after full time on Saturday, someone in the match day thread said we'd get beat by 6 or 7 against Man Utd. The Stevenage result was a bad one, though only our second league defeat of the season. And yes, read into the manner that we lost that game, and the manner in which we dropped 2 points against Northampton, and the manner which the game vs Bristol Rovers was tigher than it should have been. But It was only 2 games ago that people were questioning why Roberts had been left out against Crawley. You really can't read anything into a heavy defeat against one of the biggest clubs in the world though. They are simply better than us in every aspect on the pitch.
After the Stevenage game, they were. People were wondering why he'd been left out against Crawley though. Without looking, I reckon as of this time last week, there'd been no negative comments about him this season.
Roberts will be good player for us this season, we just need to get a settled team and some consistency, everything seems a bit stop start and jittery at the minute.
This is where I say.... told yer so . He played 14 games for a relegated team last season, averaging 60 minutes per game. I never got the clamour for him, 34 years old, well past it.
