Birmingham should walk the league. Wrexham should drop off and not make the play offs.

Tbf I could see Wrexham getting as far as top half championship by the end of next season or the one after. The whole model will then need a review as that is when they will have to start investing much more heavily to push for the premiership I believe. Birmingham look like they are already putting the infrastructure down to expand into a mid table premiership team. Half expect them to do a Leicester next season by infringing the fair play rules to power straight up to the Premier League and the EFL are relatively powerless to do much about it.

I don't think Wrexham are currently good enough for top 6. Top 10 just about I'd say. But they've started very well & apparently, according to social media, have the whole world behind them for momentum... But I reckon if they're in or close to top 6 come Jan, they may spend a fair whack.

I think if Wrexham don't go up this season then definitely next.. I see em definitely top six this season and with a bit of luck with injuries and good recruitment in the January window then why not top two this season..

I can't see how Birmingham aren't breaking SCMP already - even with their dodgy sponsorships.

But how is Birmingham v Wrexham bigger than Leeds v Leicester (2008/9), Leeds v Norwich (2009/10), Brighton v Southampton (10/11), the Sheffield Derby (11/12), Sunderland v Wednesday (21/22), or indeed Wednesday v anyone (multiple seasons)...

I was at the Steel City Derby (Boxing Day massacre) with the father in law when 49,000 were in attendance but that was division 3 rather than league 1. The highest attendance for a 3rd tier game was 51,000 for a Cardiff City v Bristol City game in Div 3 South.I think Leeds hold the record for League 1 with 38,000 on a few occasions.

Wrexham appear to be a collection of journeymen happy to get one last payday. I predict they’ll fall away over the winter months.

One of the posters seems to think that the Blades won the boxing massacre :)

Mate, they are Wigan fans. Most of them didn’t watch footy until Whelan bought the club.

Love how they moved the goalposts on rich owners. It was ok for their own to bankroll them up the leagues, but it’s somehow not if the owner is famous. You couldn’t make it up.

They all pee in the same pot. Clubs buying success.
