According to a Jon Flatman column in today's Chronicle, various development work at Oakwell is now agreed with Barnsley Council, and are hoping to start in the new year. Permanent fanzone Safe standing Modernised kiosks Updated hospitality areas
That's all great news as long as it's implemented properly. I still think that a new West Stand is a priority, even though we don't fill the ground.
Why ? Priority is getting promoted. Can I sugest a brick s&^t house Defender in January window, is top of my list.
How can it be a priority then if we don't fill the ground ? There's only possibly Birmingham and Huddersfield at home where the need for more than 17k is such, even that's a stretch mate
Hound for a pound dog turnstile could finally be happening then. Bark up, if you hate the Leeds *woof*
Jon Flatman has come out and said that he wants Oakwell to be used for more than just football - conferences, concerts and other events. It would be far easier to attract such things if the West Stand was replaced with something containing hospitality facilities fit for the 21st century.
Correct if I'm wrong, but goals scored from 7 league games is 13 . Goals conceded in 7 league games is 11. Think we have a problem in defence not up front.
Give me a sympathetically restored West Stand any day of the day of the week. Part of the fabric and history of the club. The answer isn't always about knocking down the old building and replacing it with a flat pack stand.
It's only deemed as the 'fabric' of the club because they never got around to knocking it down with the others. Get rid. It's a sh*t hole.
12 in the league. 4th top scorers behind Wrexham, Birmingham and Blackpool and level with Peterborough and Wycombe.
Based on comments made by the council and the club, I don't think it's happening any time soon. I think another 10 years of life was mentioned during the press conference regarding the lease. I would love to see a new West Stand and agree with your statement. I don't subscribe to this view that it's the fabric of the club, and for the same reason, Classic Cars don't interest me. Given me something modern, purpose built and functional any day of the week
