In case anyone hasnt seen it yet, the multi story will no longer be free at weekends so don't use it for Oakwell (from the Charlton game)
It won’t stop there though they will increase across the board possibly driving folk away from the town centre to the likes of cottonwood or parkgaye where there is free parking
Tbh those prices are reasonable compared to most other towns. And actually work out cheaper on weekdays in some cases, if for example up to 1hr. Off street parking. £2 now £1 after The charges showing 23/24 prices in off street parking are incorrect. Eg 2hrs £2, 3-5 hrs £3. I remember Paying stupid prices in Donny 20 yrs ago. More than what you'd pay in Barnsley today. Or when they change. I can't see anyone quibling to pay a quid to park for 3 hrs on match days.
Increases? If I go to town for an hour, and I'm rarely there longer, then it's cheaper. And if I'm in for two hours cos I get something to eat, then it's the same. Unless I'm there on a weekend when it's still free. And the maximum charge per day has dropped.
Presuming you are right. But you have no evidence to prove it. Barnsley car parking charges have remained the same in general for as long as I can remember, and apart from out of main towns in any district. Eg wombwell. Cortonwood (Free to attract visitors) I've never found any cheaper , Do you ever park in town ? . Increasing footfall in the town (bucking the trend of most others) It will not put off folk . Imho cos of those prices and may increase footfall further still.
Still free first 3hrs off street parking (eg eastgate. Courthouse. And several others) All except Glassworks and Alhambra. Not under cover though, so tek thi brolly,
You ought to try Farnham I’d dream of paying £1 per hour never mind 3 hours. Still full at peak times though
Can’t argue with the prices. Selfishly sad for myself as it’s already a bugger to find a car parking space in Courthouse and it’ll be even harder when more people park there to avoid the charge. I’d have actually preferred the Courthouse to cost a quid and paid that and have less people use that one instead.
