Based on what, mate? He hasn't refused to play or demand to move to a 'bigger' club. I've never seen him downing tools or not being arsed to try?

It’s the putting on a show - he doesn’t ever.

What you on about? It's his attitude on the pitch, strolling around like he's Zidane and he's been toss, did you think he controlled that midfield tonight or Bate at 5ft 8 won absolutely everything against him in the air and on the floor played him off the park?

I don't think he was strolling around. I thought he did just okay. Had some good spells, some bad. Don't think Bate was that much better than him otherwise he'd have stayed on. Not really sure why now he's the one in the bullseye. Just feels a little childish saying he's strolling around like Zidane when he's just had a quiet game lol

The recruitment team work within certain parameters. But they’d find us an XI that would waltz the league, for sure. Unfortunately, once we find said players, you then have to compete with other clubs. Most of them have more cash. Or, offer more cash. Also, regardless of that team and their work, there’s a sporting director in place. He signs their work off. He makes the decisions. But only after input from the head coach, his staff etc. And then he has to get that signed off by the CEO, finance and so on. Then it goes to the board of directors.

Far too simplistic to blame any one person. It’s a collective, collaborative approach.

I could reel off a tonne of great signings and counter it with some right tripe. That’s standard at any level.

Wasn’t my point. I was just saying that we should trust the recruitment. Jay seems to think not.

You shouldn’t trust anything based on my opinion. Nor Jay’s.

I think you've watched that game with rose tinted glasses, Bate ran himself into the ground thats why he was subbed. Do you really think we controlled the midfield tonight? He's been below par for most of the season.

    Never a truer word written.

Only thing I'll add is that when I was referring to the recruitment team I was including all the caveats that you referred to, not just the people that identify the players. As far as I'm concerned, they're all part of recruitment. I wasn't saying we couldn't identify players, more that we appear to be failing to sign the right players.

The recruitment team/club have failed with the transfer business. They haven't improved the squad.

That might turn out to be true, but that wasn't what you were insinuating.

Also our new midfielder who we got from Europe.. who's name escapes me... Doesn't even make the bench nowadays..
Last comment I heard from Clarke was ' he needs to do more in training' ..
So when are we judging Mladen..? Oh don't mention Smith and Ghent.. if right footed O'Keefe gets in at left back back before Ghent then seriously questions need asking

The Conor you long for is gone accept it and move on. The only players in this system that get space on a fairly regular basis are the wing backs, ones not good enough when he plays on his stronger side and Bazza as much as I love his effort his end product is poor. A Conor in his pomp would make a difference but not now I'm afraid.

A 33 year old Hourihane would be an asset to our team. So either he is unfit or doesn't want to play. Or both.
He may wish to focus on coaching.

Typical over reaction after a draw.just imagine what it would have been like if we’d lost.

I've got to say Hourihane was presented as going to be playing. Seems this isn't the case.

I think his legs have well and truly gone based on comments from Derby supporters last season.

Why when we just pump aimless balls up front to no one.
Why not try changing formation from time to time ?
