There’s going to be a lot more hammerings with the new format. Teams who had already qualified used to be able to rest players knowing that they were already through / top. Now only the top 8 qualify automatically & the next 16 go in to a play off. The higher your rank the easier the opponent you face. Basically means goal difference is far more important than it was last season.
Man city score flattered the opposition, absolutely hammered them for 90 minutes parked in there half.
This is a very good Celtic team. Unfortunately, the ego of their Manager (e.g. "Gucci belt") got in the way of them getting anything from the game. It's not a coincidence that this is the third time Celtic have conceded seven goals under Rogers management in the Champions League. A more pragmatic approach - especially away from home - would be more prudent.
It's a shame really, and slightly hilarious as well lol. Celtic regularly dominate in the Scotch Prem, but when it comes to Europe, they fall way too short.
I think you may be casting pearls among swine! I think Celtic’s chances of getting out of the Champion League stage are rather higher than ours of getting out of Division Three.
As well as Celtic getting shellacked, Fleetwood scored 6 last night, Stoke scored 6 tonight, both against clubs at their own level. Puts our score at Man United into perspective.
Surprised some mega rich billionaire hasn't bought Celtic or Rangers as a play thing. Both clubs have the stadiums and fam bases. Just need someone with money to burn to bankroll them to achieve more.
It was only season before last when Rangers beat Dortmund away 4-2, that's when they had Bellingham too. I've seen plenty of them rubbing it in
Unless theyre allowed into the English league or a European Superleague it’s probably pretty pointless, particularly for Celtic, as theyre already untouchable in Scottish football. Even if it was purely for the purpose of trying to win European silverware, they’d still be up against the usual mega rich elite.
I’ve often thought what it must be like to be a Celtic fan on match days knowing there’s a 95 percent chance you’re going to win.A bit boring I reckon.
I can't see anyone chucking billions at Celtic while they're in the Scottish league. There's the Champs League they could target, but they'd never attract the quality of players required to get anywhere near winning it.
To be fair celtic got hammered by champions league finalists away, rangers got hammered at home by bottom half French league lyon..
It will be interesting to see how they perform against Atalanta - a very good side: probably better than Dortmund. Arsenal just scraped a draw. Might be an idea not to go 'toe to toe' with the Italians! It's a problem that there are only 2 competitive teams in the SPL - though maybe even just one when Aberdeen drop away.
