Currently 2-0 down at Stoke and possibly on their way to 8 games without a win thus far. Must say I’m a bit surprised by how badly they’ve started, given the momentum they took into the Championship.
Yeah (Fitz) I expected better from Portsmouth, but how many games did they only scrape in Lg One last season. I know it's the mark of a good team to win games late on, especially when they haven't played well.
6 -1 now just shows you getting out of this league is one thing building a squad capable of competing in the championship is another thing.
There's a big comparison there with Birmingham, and it was a big discussion during the recent August 'window'.
Massive jump up from league 1 to championship and then even bigger one up to Premier league. I know you get the odd team like Ipswich but it's a struggle financially now
Can't blame Jordan Williams either as he's bench warming again. He's gotta be starting at the weekend.
The scary thing is we came very close the last two years and We are a million miles away from been capable of competing at that level. I for one would like a steady build towards that level as there's no way we ever be able to do a Birmingham and do it in one window.
Did they keep their team together or have they lost a few? I know there’s plenty of sides who’ve been promoted & then lost several key players (either sold or loanees returning to their parent clubs) that might explain it.
Just had a look & Oxford are in the top half with 3 wins already, Luton are down near the bottom. Both Preston & Coventry have battered sides in the top 6 despite being near the relegation places. I think the leagues just as bonkers as ever rather than their been a huge gulf in class.
I don't think we can do stuff like that anymore though mate. How many fans have you seen wanting Clarke gone already? Duff got 3 games before people wanted him gone. How is it possible for a manager to build when he has so few games in charge before he takes the amount of stick he does? I didn't wanna sack Collins, wanted him to atleast finish the playoffs. I have a feeling a few on here who didn't want Collins sacked have been particularly abrasive from the get go with Clarke and not giving him a chance, despite him having 0 impact on Collins getting the sack.
