I called it. Huddersfield on a **** run and who rolls into town to gift them the win. Barnsley FC. ******* hell.
It's not the best side we've ever had at this level that's for sure. Has clear issues but it's a better side than a lot at this level and we should be doing far better. Clarke and the coaching staff have a lot to answer for imo. Squad look clueless every time they cross the white line. What is he working on each week in training
What hurts me most is we touch 10k most home games with fanatical support who'd happily play for free. Those 18 w ank ers in the squad. Six dozen Leland Daff's on the bench and f cuk in Gucci sunglasses in the directors box haven't got a clue. Shambles.
And unfortunately for us they've got less talent than the ones that supposedly didn't give a **** last season
He played well and still managed to gift them a goal at the end. That's the trouble with inconsistent, young keepers.
Maybe the players aren’t playing for Clarke, we have some decent players who aren’t playing well. Is it down to training? The tactics are crazy and lead to more pressure on us, why does he insist on having 11 players behind the ball on corners. That just causes more pressure when we do win the ball because nobody is there to collect the second ball. The other things like the slow pissing about with the ball from the defenders to then eventually pass to a midfielder after 5 passes who then passes back to the keeper. Maybe Clarke thinks he’s pep and we have Stones in defence who knows.
We have good players in this squad. Slonina Roberts Benson Connell Phillips Keillor-Dunn Humphrys This is totally down to Clarke and his inability to get the best from them. There's no reason why they all look so sluggish and unfit, other than the training regime is tailored to a Sunday League side. The passing is of that level, the pressing is of that level, the hoofball is from that level, our movement on and off the ball is of that level. We need a coach in who is wants to get the lads as fit as possible, working as a solid unit. Clarke isn't doing that, therefore I think he needs to go now. Edit - a Sunday League side typically trains one day a week, tips up somewhere on a Sunday and plays. We play exactly the same way, as though the players have only trained together for one day a week, daren't get injured as they have work in the morning. It's just all so very amateur. As a Club, we cannot survive season after season of poor sides playing poor football, the crowds will continue to dwindle and we'll end up relegated.
I think the truth is we have been in decline over the years. Our flurry into the play offs has perhaps masked things. But we look nowhere near a club that could compete in the championship. We look distinctly now like a mid table team, at best in L1. We could see our saleable assets dry up a season or two ago so we knew we were in for a tough period. So we appoint an analyst as a director of football when it seems we needed someone who has experience at the game and working the network and transfer window effectively. We don't have much money so I see no light at the end of this tunnel and expect the decline to continue. The match day experience has fallen already to almost rock bottom. Attendances will drop further. It's sad that we have lost the ability to compete as a club in the first few tiers of professional football. Im not convinced this manager or a new manager will solve these underlying problems but I can live in hope.
Truly pathetic display. Incredibly slow to build an attack, never remotely looking likely to score. We deservedly lost to a team sadly lacking in confidence and in the end the scoreline flattered us. The diving of both Jalo and MDG was shameful. How often do we find an opposing player with our long throws? Yet another embarrassing performance.
Collins was 'advised' that statistically it's a proven benefit to us to pull everyone back for corners. Presumably Clarke's getting his gen from the same source.
Could this team go down under this coach? Let’s face it Huddersfield were absolutely awful, but still battered us.
I've been saying such for a long time myself although I did think it would start bottoming out. I dont think it has yet and its a concern. As to Clarke, its not all his fault - there's a recruitment issue - but I don't think he's helping himself with continually changing formations and making mass substitutions. The players, bad though they look, would be better if there was a settled pattern of play over time where they knew their jobs and their teammates. They're not settled and must be confused half the time which will affect confidence. Clarke needs to decide what he wants and stick to it with a settled team.
Even a settled team that shows no movement in the final 3rd and can't string more than 3 passes together before losing the ball?
I know the players on paper are good enough, but the games played on grass not paper. Many teams have been too good to go down and gone down from many leagues.
Not saying they're any good but I did allude to formation changes and confidence. He needs to settle on a team which play how he wants over time instead of chopping and changing. Clarke doesn't seem to me at the moment to know what he wants. He should do by now. He's had the players long enough.
For me a settled team means partnerships start to develop on the pitch and then naturally the play and link up possession will improve as the players get to know each other more and each player gets natural in what's required of them in each position according to Clarke. If you keep chopping and changing the team oe the formation especially in the middle of matches it's going to confuse players. How are we ever going to find consistency if the team and tactics aren't consistent?
