I agree, the aim should be to score or create an opportunity, if his first thought when taking the ball into the box is to win a penalty then I don’t want him playing for us.
There's many I don't want playing for us he's one of the last. I watched conor Hourihane fake injury in a barnsley shirt and get praised for it.
Scott would want a young ronaldo out, if he was a diver, because we as a club are the moral compass all clubs should strive to be like... its not as though every single other player on the planet dives, cheats and throws themselves to the floor. Just find it weird we're picking that of all things to complain at. Its almost as if he doesn't rate him and is finding ways to have a dig at him. Hes a teenage footballer, knowing his manager and teammates are under pressure already from the fans and is trying to alleviate said pressure. I hate diving but let's not pretend 40 year old Cristiano and every other player on the planet doesn't do it.
He didn’t even have any contact he just dived and rightly got called out for it and booked. Should be the last time we ever see it happen again.
I don’t get the hype personally, I don’t recall ever been impressed with him in any of his cameo appearances. However, he’s just a kid, and he’ll learn. Let’s not forget Peterborough in 2016 at home, when King Conor dived twice to get a posh player sent off in which we lauded him for.
But how much impact can you have 15 minutes here 20 there not like he's had 30 starts like Cosgrove and about 2 good games in 18 months. This board makes me laugh experienced players and manager put on a show like that in a Yorkshire Derby and we pick on a 17/18 year old who was a sub. He's a kid when wr had Ivan toney he was older than jalo now. Not saying jalo.is going to be a world beater but people are expecting too much of him at this age.
When players take the ball around a keeper and then go flying over, penalty given, happens all time, and keeper never touches, and when they do its a light breeze. Every one does it mate.
I get that, but there’s a clear reason for it. Last season I’ve got it on good authority that the owners were pushing Collins to play Jalo more, and he wasn’t happy about it as he didn’t rate him. I think the owners believe the hype around him, and the managers who come in see him and don’t believe he’s good enough. I think the only reason he gets any minutes at all is to entice a bigger club in to make a bid for him. I don’t believe the club have any interest whatsoever in trying to bring him in any further, probably because they can’t.
To be fair you need players who can make a impact in this league today apart from.the dive jalo looked decent imo. There's not many players at 17/18 who have been prolific in league one at that age. From what I've seen of him he's far ahead of Marsh in ability and 2 years younger. And Cosgrove and watters have been ***** for 2 seasons. So before getting on jalos back I'll be critical of the likes of Cosgrove, watters and dkd.
Plus Cosgrove who will probably be on decent wages as he was apparently on 19k a week at brum couldn't get a game over Cole or macatee last season, so a 17 year old jalo was always going to struggle to get in the side.
Another point I'd like to make, if I may. This so-called 'hype' surrounding Jalo has never come from the lad himself, as far as I'm concerned. He has no control over the comments other make about him. I find the criticism (diving apart) baffling.
He was head and shoulders in the u21s/18s. All the opposition knew of him He needs a decent run in the side imo, I'm sure he'll step up!
I agree with this actually. I think people got sucked into it because he came from benfica, so people automatically think “this kid must be class” However, a huge number of our young academy have signed on with us after being released by Man United, City, Liverpool etc. it’s the exact same thing, but those players don’t seem to get the same treatment or pressure. I personally don’t think he’s going to be good enough, but he is still a young kid. Anything can happen. I really want him to succeed, because you can see he does have that special something, it’s just finding a way of getting that something onto the pitch.
I have no idea whether the lad will make it, or not. But I'm willing to give him a chance and, because of his age, I expect him to make some errors on the way.
The only way it will happen is by playing games, the whole impact sub when we’re chasing a game isn’t doing him any favours. We’ve strikers who aren’t scoring, so he should be given a chance. Can’t be any worse.
When you have people like Michael Owen saying they were coached from a young age at Liverpool to fall over in certain situations then there is no wonder others (clubs, coaches & players) follow.
I won't hammer Marsh or jalo as they are both young. Weather or not they will turn out good enough remains to be seen. But after that performance jalo is the least of the worries imo. Or can you pick many positives from it?
Should be fined for the dive, flopping to the floor on his side. He had the chance to get his shot away. He's a lot to learn.
