Many congratulations to Root . He has now passed Cook on his way to Tendulkar as the all time top run scorer ( only 3,500 to go !! )
I'm wondering if we had a greatest player ever for Yorkshire poll. In stats terms throughout a career. Tendulkar would have to figure. Picked this up. In 1992, Yorkshire signed the 19-year-old Sachin Tendulkar as their first-ever overseas player. He scored 1070 runs from 16 first-class games, but the county ended the season in 16th place. However, Tendulkar's presence in the dressing room had a positive impact. "They are all better players for his presence," said coach Steve Oldham soon after he joined. "His confidence is infectious, they all want to bat with him." xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx But so pleased for Joe Root, if anyone deserves accolades. It's him. Wonderful player.
Love Joe me, I think he's England's best ever batter! And I wouldn't rule out him topping Tendulkar, he's years ahead of him!
I was surprised a few weeks ago when Dreamboy came up with those figures about Lehman. His achievements whilst playing for Yorks. must be the top but the greatest player who also played for Yorks. has to be Tendulkar. We were both surprised how few matches that Boycott actually played for the county
It's like the all time Barnsley 11. If you based it off what they did in games for us Stones wouldn't get in. If you do it based on entire career him and Trippier would both be in. It's the same for Yorkshire. Someone like Tendulkar is one of the greatest to ever play for Yorkshire, but nowhere near the best 11 from a Yorkshire career. Lehmann is our most successful overseas signing at the very least.
Sorry I should have said overseas player for Lehman …. my mind knows what I mean to say anyway !!! Blanchflower is often forgotten for his record after leaving us
