Will be a far right populist psychopath... Or someone pretending to be a far right populist psychopath. Frightening.
The talk was Cleverly supporters were going to lend their vote to Jenrick to make sure Badenoch was knocked out. Well it's backfired as they can no longer vote for who they wanted as he's out. Jenrick will walk it now.
Tory party members in a nutshell, voting for someone who ordered Disney murals at children's asylum receptions to be painted over. The dregs of society.
Reckon Cleverly will be surprised but quietly happy with that. Couple of years of carnage with whoever wins, then he'll be in poll position to lead them into the next election.
Back to ensuring they replace their leader with someone worse than their predecessor Starmer had better sort himself out as I really don’t want either of those getting in at the next election
So are there any circumstances in which you could seriously vote for either of those two ahead of Keir?
Doesn't matter which one gets the gig, they'll be in their 70s when the next Tory government gets in.
The Tory members average age is 72. A large percentage are senile. It's such a fùcked up system. Reading Rory Stewart's 'Politics on the Edge' which is a great read. Clearly explains why we don't get good politicians in this country, instead we get the people who've canvassed the most and got to know the membership.
Tend to agree. 5 years is an awful long time. It is highly likely that the next leader won't be the person who leads them into the next election. Bizarre turnaround though. I reckon there is some tactical voting gone wrong there.
No but I see the Tories have almost drawn level with Labour in the polls as Starmer has not set off well. I’m not impressed with him so far but he is not in the same league as the 2 right wing nut jobs. I’d never vote Tory
I agree about the turnaround, but really thinking about it I probably wouldn't be surprised if it were actually tactical voting gone right, and the aim after he came out of conference so well was just to position him as the rightful next leader after whoever wins this one! Tory leadership elections have always been distinctly Machiavellian, and that's only going to have gotten worse now there are so few of them.
Not sure many of the female Tory members will have been worried about maternity leave for a good few years!
Hope not. If they get back in so quickly it'll be terrifying after the damage, division and hurt caused by the previous 14 years. Another Tory Government would be an absolutely disaster from a social and economic point of view.
Reform are the key in all this. If the tories try to steal back core vote get ready for a race to the bottom. Labour need to be careful too here too.
