I keep reading supposed experts telling me that Cleverly was the best candidate by a mile & they’ve messed up. If he’s their best candidate then they’re an even bigger mess than I thought. He’s an idiot.
Sadly an idiot was the best of the bad bunch. The leader of the opposition will either be someone who I truly think is evil, or someone who will do and say anything to benefit himself and get power. As thick as mince as Cleverly is, at least he's neither of those two things.
I'm not sure that yesterday's vote makes any real difference, the membership have shown their tendency to pick the loony candidate so they probably wouldn't have picked Dimly anyway.
Whilst I agree, just look at the entire state of British politics. Look at our PM, keir Starmer? I mean cmon! The bloke is a laughing stock.
Probably better to lose this one. The chances of the winner still leading the Tories at the time of the next general election are pretty slim. Since 2016, they are averaging a new leader election every 18 months. Since 2019, its just over 1 year.
Yes... Far worse than a green card holding tax dodging billionaire grifter climate change denier with zero self awareness. Or a grinning wooden puppet with the political and business acumen of a piece of flotsam that nearly crashed the pensions market, added thousands to mortgages and was outlasted by a lettuce. Or a philandering sociopath who lied repeatedly, mocked the dieing, told business to f off, was the chief cheerleader for the most disastrous imposing of self harm on the country, grifted hundreds of thousands to paper his flat, get married, have holidays, take mistresses on holidays, gift gongs to cronies and hide as much of it as possible... Aided by the right wing media, of which he was in hock to Lebedev, son of one of Putins key former kgb agents. But you're right... Clearly... Its Starmer thats soooo much worse.
He is, the approval polls are showing that. Starmer is as popular as Liz Truss, at minus 16. I’ll say no more.
Probably best not to say any more if you think Starmer is genuinely worse than any of the previous three occupants… The opinion polls don’t mean he’s worse than they were. It just shows how he’s been painted - I’m not saying he’s whiter than white and doesn’t deserve some criticism but compare him to them by actually looking at what they’ve said and done and he’s absolutely not anything like as bad as he is being made out to be. But you carry on with the rhetoric pushed by The Sun and Daily Mail etc… the attacks on him are nothing to do with wanting him personally out, just bashing the government that they didn’t want as it doesn’t suit their agenda. If anything they’d prefer Starmer to anyone left of him in the party. The fact that Johnson and Sunak were given such an easy ride by them (even Truss to an extent), and that they still flag wave for Johnson now shows what the agenda is. The danger isn’t from the Tories I don’t think. Farage is posturing. We need to see economic growth and the general population to be a bit better off in the next five years so there isn’t too much to blindly blame migrants for by the next election. Getting a proper asylum process off the ground wouldn’t hurt either.
That's no measure given 90% of media is right wing biased and on a daily basis makes Everests out of wormcasts, yet never mentions the right wings corruption and depravity. Starmer was never going to be popular given the **** sandwich the tories intentionally left for Labour.
How ironic it was that British lawyers drafted the forerunner legislation of ECHR at the behest of what was then the 'Common Market' (EU).
The ECHR was drafted by/for the council of Europe - and predates the Common Market by several years - mainly at the behest of one Winston Churchill and much of the drafting was by David Maxwell-Fyfe (Tory MP) and Lord Layton (Liberal).
He's already took the winter fuel allowance now he needs to raise taxes by 25 billion to keep up with public spending. From the party who said they wouldn't raise taxes..hmm
That's not what was said at all, so please don't twist it. They said they wouldn't increase income tax, national insurance or vat.
I don't know where they are going to find 25 billion maybe giving into teachers, junior doctors etc wasn't a great idea. The budget will be interesting to say the least.
Its external think tanks saying that's what's required. We all know there are tough decisions coming, that's been well trailed. As for 'giving in' to junior doctors.... You do know there is a massive backlog in the NHS and strikes were costing a fortune?
Wouldn't bother mate, an actual quote from him two year ago was "I agree in a way but I've had enough of this government and just taking the piss out of the working class. Nurses, posties, train workers, underground staff all on strike. These are people like me and you. While big oil companies profits go through the roof and pay **** all in tax." Now he's giving it a different view simply because of who is in charge. Very Weird behaviour.
This is exactly what’s wrong with Tories and their apologists. Negotiating a deal that will end industrial action (which came about by years of Tory nothings which led to large scale pay regression and lower standards of living) is seen as giving in.
Out of all the people to pick on for a payrise you choose two extremely important professions. Wild take. Can you think of others who avoid or evade paying their fair share? Perhaps that money doesn't even recirculate in the economy (unlike payrises) because it ends up in an offshore account?
I wouldnt rise to them pal, this is their safe space where their deluded opinion can be shared amongst others who refuse to acknowledge the failures of the new government. According to you gov, 52% of people who voted Labour now regret doing so. The PM has a lower approval rating than Liz Truss. 80% of the country did not vote for Labour. They’ll be lucky to last another year, let alone 5. The Labour faithful know this, they know it’s been a shitshow. Their anyone but the tories mentality will destroy this country even further. Millionaires leaving in their droves, now old twotier has been told to ease off a little to avoid an economic meltdown by influential Labour funders. Labour, the party who bankrupted Britain so badly the tories had to take over, the party who destroyed the Middle East, the party who has 100s of thousands of Middle Eastern civilian deaths on their record. Yet apparently, the tories were far worse.
