You are looking at last nights activity there Gally. It not looking anywhere near as strong as last night tonight but you never know.... Gonna be dodging cloud as well. It doesnt come much better than it was last night at half past nidnight,
I knew there was something fishy going on. I've not seen them in 65 years; then on an ordinary October night, in an ordinary suburb of an ordinary town in northern England, suddenly there they are.
literally watched the CME erupt from the surface of the sun and the particle cloud head towards earth then hit 2 detection satellites en route. You'll be telling us the earth is flat next. Quite ironic your username is solarized.
Agree, was the most incredible thing I've witnessed. I've seen the shapes before, like in may and faint colour with the naked eye, but this was the real deal. I stayed up and saw the moment you mentioned and ran back outside to take pictures (night vision, no filters, but the naked eye version was only slightly dimmer). I live in Saltburn
Exactly. There's also a question of how much of the photos is simply so these days like how images of the moon are partially ai generated when your phone recognises that you are attempting to photograph the moon so it fills in the details artificially.
Generally I agree with this (although i still think it's cool to use an instrument to capture a phenomenon that is happening but your eyes can't capture it). Last night for the first time for me though the aurora with the naked eye was visible at about the same level of the photos I took
Oh definitely I think it's really interesting but I do agree with jay that if he can't see it with his eyes then he hasn't really seen it if a photo shows it him
